This is quite cool and very well thought out, but it still leaves the explanation of why Laanx and Talad and Vodùl were gods. Something just doesn't sit right with me when godly characters are introduced as gods with no reasoning behind it. What makes them gods, what gives them the power and means to create humanity? I guess that's where I'm just baffled that it's so hard to find a religion, both practiced and fantasy, that explains that.
