@wyomingsass the au i’m gonna go with includes a kind of school, so i think everyone’s gonna have access to pretty decent materials, at the least. That is a pretty key thing to keep in mind though, I agree, so it’ll probably have some affect. 

one of my biggest problems is my head screaming “protective headgear” but alas, i can barely draw glasses, let alone a helmet

My pet budgie died today, and now my last budgie is all alone, and I don't want her to be, oh no, but I can't ask mum and dad to look after pets that aren't theirs while I'm at uni. its not fair, but its not fair on her either, alone in a too big cage outside in the cold and its eating me up inside because shes wild and we can't catch her and give her another smaller cage inside the patio where she could see other people. And I feel its wrong for me to say it, but I want her to be with the others so she isn't alone... I thought I'd done my crying over this but apparently not.
