I’m curious, for those who lost interest in the show, was there a particular scene or episode that served as the turning point? Or was it just an eventual decline?
For me, weirdly, it was the scene of Jonah wearing the boots in season 5 that really stood out to me in season 5. That was when noticed that they started using more gags.
And it was Selina and Mike smashing the barn in 6x05, Chicklet, even though JLD and Matt Walsh did great, with Mike yelling, “Pay me!” I can’t put my finger on exactly what it was, but I just remember thinking it wasn’t Veep and that something was off about the season. This was before I knew the original writers had left. I think I started numbly watching out of obligation more than anything after that.
All of season 6 is a blur, really. I can barely remember what even happens.
Another is the season 6 finale, with the pregnancy bombshell dropped in for obvious shock factor. I remember being mad after I watched that scene because they barely had any scenes together. I eventually got on board with the pregnancy storyline because of all the potential (we all know what happened there) and it actually made hopeful 🤡 because everyone was so excited.
And then of course there was s7, which was just the glace cherry on top of everything.
