Today, there will be a benefit show for a fallen brother, US Veteran Mr. Oscar Peña. Proceeds will go to support the family he has left behind. This will take place this Sunday 10/16/16 at Spikes Bar in Rosemead, CA. This weekend I've realized not to rush everything. Life is so precious, but everyday we fail to realize just how fragile it is. We should cherish what we have, while we have it. In a blink of an eye it could be all gone. Scary, but ever so eye opening.
Oscar Taveras
I've been putting off my actual thoughts and emotions about Oscar Taveras, mostly because I haven't wanted to accept the fact that he died. I looked at his stats from the miners when I first heard he was going to start playing in the majors, and I knew he was gonna be a great player. I remember watching the first game he played in, his first home run, and I felt something right then. I realized how similar he was to Albert Pujols. Albert has been my favorite player since his major league debut back in 2001. I was only 4 but I remember that every time I went to a game, his at bats gave me chills. He is such a good player and will always be my favorite. I felt those same chills every at bat or hit Taveras had. The other day I thought about the possibility that I might never get to watch Pujols bat again. I felt sad and just depressed all together. Then I realized, I can see him again if I try hard enough and save the money. I can't watch Taveras no matter what I do. There is nothing in the world that can bring him back. No money, no faith, no begging, nothing. That hit hard. That's when I finally accepted it, and I broke down. It's more than just a player gone. It's almost like a friend or family member has died. We are Cardinal Nation. We are all a family, and we lost one of our brothers. We lost his humor, his talent, and his all around great personality. Next year we will play for Oscar. I hope and pray we can win the World Series for him, also. #12in15for18 #OT18
