rivalmancing anders as a mage fuels me, not because i think he's wrong or hate mages. its because i can make a hawke gaslight anders into thinking he's wrong only for hawke to choose him and the mages at the end. the breakdown that anders has after is astronomical.

also, a few fave lines from the (gay) rivalmance:

"don't threaten me boy" (hot)

"and since yours is the only head here, and i don't want to rip it off, i should stop." (also hot)

"i will not give up this fight hawke. know this now." (very hot)

"i confess, i wasn't sure you'd share my outrage. i'm glad i can count on this much."

"let us hope he is a fool as well as a bastard." (eat ser alrik alive anders!)

"why is it you can say nothing without me wanting to wring your neck?" (super hot)

"no, i like it. you just... surprised me."

"you defy the circle yourself, yet condemn the rest of your kind to it!" (apostate 2 apostate convo LMAO)

"i will make you see! i swear, if i convince no one else, at least i'll have you at my side before this is done." (hot desperation)

"i swear. i don't know whether to kiss or kill you. you're everything i hate."

"but i can't stop thinking about you. for years i've told myself there's nothing there, but i can feel it smouldering between us."

anyway, rivalmance is fun.

I noticed when playing SDR2 that there were scenes where Monokuma be enabling KomaHina 🤭 so I felt like mentioning those.

First I gotta show this promo art. The despair bear be looking all happy and in glee while KomaHina be standing side by side lol

Chapter 3

In Chapter 3 while exploring the 3rd island, Hajime entered the movie theater where he encountered Monokuma who wanted him to watch his movie. Hajime angrily refused to watch it to the point that he bought a very expensive "I'm sorry, I was born stupid" sticker and put himself in debt just to not watch it. Man he was THAT stubborn LOL

But then days later during a murder investigation, Hajime wanted to watch the movie to get clues. Monokuma began embarrassing him right in front of Nagito, calling Hajime a tsundere and showing Nagito the "I'm sorry, I was born stupid" sticker 😂

Seeing Hajime get all flustered and embarrassed in front of Nagito is adorable to me. Nagito got to watch him behave like that 🥰 Props to Monokuma for teasing this tsun!

Chapter 5

During the 5th class trial, Hajime realized that understanding Nagito is key to solving the case. Since he had more of a closer bond with Nagito than anyone else at the time, Monokuma began teasing Hajime about it, hinting at certain tropes.

Oh Hinata-kun... you may not know this but there is this thing called "rivalmance" and Monokuma is seeing that here lol 🤭He's just labeling it as "friendship" to mask what he REALLY meant.

Also the way Hajime stuttered when he yelled "Wh-What friendship?!". His conflicting feelings about his time spent with Nagito in the 1st chapter and the Nagito he knew in the later chapters is making him in-denial about this, and it shows. He still couldn't let go of his feelings after all of this time. Man he really is a tsundere 😂

and the bear kept going with it! In the Japanese dub, he mentioned how this "friendship" between KomaHina is something you would see in a Shounen manga (少年漫画) which I believe he is comparing it to relationships like Joseph and Caesar in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure where Caesar is a rival who died and Joseph couldn't forget him. Joker and Akechi (ShuAke) in P5R is another good example but P5R is not an anime lol

That kind of trope always sparks BL ships 🤭

Those are the moments I know so far about Monokuma enabling KomaHina and I might find more things when I start looking at other mediums. I think he's probably a shipper on deck for the sake of teasing them 😂 and maybe that will have more of a presence in 2x2!

Coming up with some rivalmance ideas for Guardians.

Iroha/Ulalaka: They are basically wives running the restaurant together already. Don't imagine Iroha making more and more cherry blossom-inspired sweets as she falls harder!

Murasame/Matsuri: Sword nerd squared! They'd definitely need a push to actually realize they're in love, since they're both kinda stupid.

Kai/Kurama: I mean...do I even need to explain this one? They are one anger-induced kiss away from being gay married. Just lock them together somewhere. They'll figure it out.

Fubuki/Pilika: A classic hunter/wolf ship. Plus, I think their softer, quiet natures are well suited to each other. I can picture them snuggling in front of a fire after a day's hunt.

Mauro/Kanata: The treasure-hunter and the goddess of finding things is a match made in heaven! Literally! Also, I'm a fan of boyfailure characters ending up with literal goddesses.

Clarice/Subaru or Kaguya: Specifically whichever one was the rider of the black dragon. Think of the angst potential, ya'll!

Those are the ones off the top of my head. Please share your thoughts!
