admittedly, sehun isn’t exactly the sporty type. he would always prefer more hours of sleep than extra time to sweat and pull muscles (because in his defense, hours of practice is already doing a good job of keeping them in shape). this time, it was more of his curiosity that had lead him to want to participate in some of the sport events in this year’s ISAC. there was a good chunk of participants, he notes, most of which are from newly debuted groups, but he’s glad to see that he knows most of them.
it was only natural for him to sought out some of the familiar faces he’s able to spot, skipping over to have a chat while they watch the sports events that have started. at some point he finds himself glued to johnny’s side - he was able to see the older male during promotions, but it was brief - so he's decided going around the venue as he clings onto johnny's arm is a way to go. besides, they're going to be competing for archery together later.
"fun fact, my aim sucks even after the short training," he admits out of the blue. he looks in front of them, intrigued at how many people have gathered. must be a popular sports event. "if you get the chance, please record my very possible missed shots. it'll be hilarious!"
It’s time for your favorite idols to show off their athletic sides!
Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC), the biannual show that gathers many debuted K-Pop idols (from rookies to seniors in the industry) playing various sports and gives them the chance to have fun with members of other groups and their fans, is going to be recorded on the weekend of October 24th and 25th at Goyang Stadium in South Korea. The airing date has yet to be announced, it’s expected to be aired in November.
This year a total of 231 participants will be contesting in seven different fields, including short track (60m), 400m relay, wrestling, archery, bowling, aerobics, rhythmic gymnastics and e-Sports. Sun Hyukmoo, Unit Black's Oh Jinseok, K.ARMA’s Kil have been selected as the MCs for the event. In addition to the MCs, Convex’s Seonghwa and Eclipse’s Jennie will be on the ground giving reports and talking to the competitors. As “corner” MCs, NSG U’s Aron and AND*ROMA Sora will be reporting on special events.
For those who can’t wait to watch the show next month or wait for updates on SNS, fans of the participating groups are invited to be part of the audience and enjoy some fun time with their favorite idols. Seats are limited and each group gets a certain amount of tickets for their fans. To secure a spot at the event they must sign up through their official websites/fanclubs and arrive promptly.
Idols should arrive at 8:30AM with comfortable clothes. They will pose for the fans waiting for them then get in the gymnasium to get changed into uniforms provided for them and pin a tag with their names. After that, they will move to the red carpet to pose for the press in front of a backdrop as usual. There’s no fixed order and the first groups to arrive will be the first photographed and the first to enter the gymnasium for the recording. Fans are allowed to enter at 10AM to find their seats (they should sit in their favorite group’s area). The games are set to start at 10:30AM and will happen through the day until 8PM. Recordings will resume on the following day with the same schedule.
Although it’s not a concert, make sure to bring your lightsticks and slogans and prepare for a whole day with your favorite idols -- rumors say they even prepared delicious meals for the fans! Keep your eyes open not to miss any moment because it’s the perfect opportunity for any new friendships being formed or perhaps even something juicy like rivals and secret couples.

break time and the perfect time for seonho to mess around with some of his hyungs and he just so happens to already have his eyes set on one of his hyungs. the teen had seen jaehyun standing in front of where their fans were seated seeming to be talking to them or something. it was the perfect chance. the teen started his approach, holding his finger to his mouth to signal to the fans not to let the older know what was happening. luckily none of the other idols around them were watching them as he was sure someone would ruin it.
a grin forms across his face and without a moment of hesitation he latches onto jaehyun in a tight back hug. “HI HYUNG!!!” calling out loudly to startle him, and then letting go as fast as he grabbed on so he could run away. he could hear de:code fans laughing and cheering behind him though he couldn’t really make out what they were cheering for. it could have been for seonho’s silly game and it could have been jaehyun chasing him--as he assumed he was about to be ATTACKED. time for defensive maneuvers.
the day has arrived and seonho can and will admit that he is extremely excited for today. he’s never really be someone who does sports or anything like it before he became a trainee. though he didn’t really think dancing was a sport it fell in line in the whole working out thing and often left him sweaty and exhausted. that being said, as the years went on he was growing more and more use to the whole dancing thing.
and it’s not as if he isn’t normally always extremely very energetic-- every adjective used in that sentence was on purpose. as seonho is by far one of the most energetic people in all of royal. for sure he is in de:code.
the kid runs like an energizer bunny.
so isac was honestly something he was looking forward to, and when he found out he had actually got into the archery portion his excitement grew at least by ten times as much as it had before. he has instantly approached his manager to see if he could dress up for it.
and thus the day of isac, when it was de:Code’s turn up for archey. seonho walked so proudly in his history hanbok, holding himself like nobility back in the day may have walked. his head held up, chin out, hands folded together over his stomach and hidden in the long sleeves. he was using all his practice at holding up a stage act to keep from laughing as he made his way to the archery stand.
the introduction of teams was amusing, for obvious reason. seonho was playing true to his character. every question he answered with dramatics that were not really needed but that fit the role he was trying to take up. a monarch from old times. someone who stepped right out of a historical drama and into this sports show for idols. he spoke dramatically, and with a straight expression. though at times when the mc wasn’t speaking specifically to him his expression would break. a grin forming as he looks to his fans before taking up the act again.
he continues to walk with the grace expected of him as they’re released to places. the excitement growing as each team takes their marks.
he took up stance, and with a confident expression he released the arrow.
In the morning of September 16th, all debuted groups are approached by their managers to discuss their appearance at the upcoming Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC) 2020, set to be recorded next month. After explaining a bit about the annual sports event that they all should know about already, they are presented with the categories for this year’s competition and are instructed to submit their choices through their managers so they can confirm everything with the broadcast station and schedule lessons for the big day. After making their choice, the idols will receive weekly lessons of their chosen sports to increase the chances of winning and getting more screen time.
You can find the categories below:
60m race (max. 2 per group)
400m relay (4 per group)
Wrestling (3 per group)
Archery (3 per group)
Bowling (2 per group)
Rhythmic gymnastics (1 per group - women)
Aerobics (5 per group - men)
PUBG (max. 4 per group)
Some of the categories are disputed in teams, so make sure to discuss this with your group before submitting them as they should be complete, just like deciding who will compete in the solo sports. It’s not obligatory to participate in all the categories and they can compete in more than one, but every group should join at least one of the sports to take part in the event. Submit your choices to rkevent blog until midnight EST on September 30th, Wednesday.
UPDATE: Since some muns approached us about finding it difficult to discuss details of rkisac20 with the group due to the lack of activity, we decided to change the way we’re selecting the teams and contenders for solo sports. Instead, submit your muse’s choices individually in order of preference to rkevent blog. Feel free to add notes in case you don’t want to be included in a certain category or is okay being added in others in case the team needs more people to compete. We’ll do it in a way to include everyone that shows interest and make things fair! In case a group has managed to come with a consensus with all the group members they may send a list with each sports contestants as explained in the previous post.
More details about the event will come next month.
the idol star athletics championship was an event was the perfect chance to catch up with old friends as much as make new ones. it was also the perfect opportunity to interact with their fans. they’re used to all the cheering, yes. it’ll probably make him sounds old, but this really just gives him that nostalgic feeling of being back in high school, participating in sports event for the school’s pride. but that was the thing - the school event in school were focused only on sports. of course, he had seen PUBG in the list of events, but he knows his nonexistent skills in mobile or PC games.
that doesn’t mean he’s completely clueless, but that also means he knows himself well enough not to try and participate. he makes sure to be there and cheer as much as consta does for the members participating in the PUBG category.
"jace hyuuuung~" sehun calls, wrapping an arm around the older male's shoulder. jace's growth spurt is probably one of his favorites. his hyung is perfect height for extra cuddles now. "you have to teach me how to play this game properly when we get back. this looks fun!"
the shots he missed were admittedly expected. his aim was never good to begin with even if he had improved during the short training they had. when the list of sports event were announced, it was archery that immediately caught his eyes. the training had been both tiring and fun - it usually is for every new things that he tries. of course, sehun was aware of how different the actual event will be compared to their practice shots.
despite the few missed arrows, he can't help but smile, but not without some embarrassment. at some point he was sure it was his posture that messed up his aim, and that helped him in redeeming himself. the positive cheers he gets from the fans, as well as from the members helped a lot too. in fact, after the first missed shot, sangyeon's voice was heard as clear as day that he couldn't help but laugh fondly before giving the older male a quick finger heart to let sangyeon know he heard. it's one of the reasons why he had almost literally flew his way towards sangyeon, giving the older male the signature sehun hug.
"hyung!" he chirps, grinning happily. the members do have that effect on him. "thank you for cheering for us! did i successfully get your heart?"
for isac can idols dress up for events like archery ? like how btob did
Yes, they may dress up for the archery! Both gymnastics and aerobics require different attires as well, but for the rest of the event, they should keep their uniforms.
