hey rk! a character development question here. what would be some reasons for a muse to become a trainee / idol without that actually being their dream? obviously our muses don't have to become trainees or idols but if that was something we wanted ... what could be some possible ideas / plot points? thanks!!!

personally, one of my muses (@rksora) was one of those muses who became a trainee and eventually an idol without it actually being their dream! for her, she took the contract because she just wanted to ‘see’ what it was like as a trainee and wanted to be noticed; eventually she continued to stay as a trainee because she liked the validation the trainers gave her when she performed and thought that maybe she was cut out for it; there’s other things too but i’d rather not plaster it all across the main, lol. 

the side bonus of idealistic, although naive glamour of being famous also could be a motivator. they don’t really want to be idol but they want to be famous and hey, if they’re an idol they’d definitely be that.

they could use familial pressure or rivalry as a motivator to become a trainee or idol such as it was their siblings’ dream but they can’t fulfill it so your muse does it for them! or familial pressure to get famous and get rich if they’re unable to go to school since the companies pay for everything and offer training under the guise that everything will get paid back after debut.

they could not want to be an idol but want to be an actor/producer/songwriter but see that being an idol can get them these opportunities faster and easier. 

and the goody of becoming a trainee over a dare and then slowly learning to love being on stage!

hopefully these were good examples. if our rookies have any other suggestions, please feel free to drop them below!

hello! how do the practise rooms for the mga contestants look in the companies?

They should look like what the practice rooms do in each company’s IRL counterpart. SPHERE’s is based on CUBE’s, NOVA’s is based on WOOLLIM’s, TRC’s is based on YG’s, KT’s is based on SM’s, and ROYAL’s is based on JYP’s (old building).

hi admins, first off thank you for all that you do! i really appreciate you all! but secondly, would you guys ever think about revisiting the no jpop & cpop idols rule eventually? especially considering that non-korean idols are more accepted within the industry now than in the past. also in my experience, there aren't many who are rushing to play these idols vs korean ones, since the latter usually has more resources. it also didn't make sense that idols were singled out vs models and actors.

you make a good point, anon, and after discussing it with the other mods we’ve come to the decision of accepting all asian faceclaims currently (or have previously been) involved in the entertainment industry here at rookies. by this weekend, the rule should be fixed on the guidelines page. cheers to seeing new faces!

does trainees interacting with seniors/idol characters from their company count for workshop points?

it’s not officially addressed anywhere (on some pages it may say one thing and another may say another), but the mods discussed it and we’re fine with allowing trainees to get workshop points by interacting with seniors/idol characters! we’ll make sure to change the requirements on the following pages in the next few days.

from the last few times, for females we’ve said more wjsn, lovelyz, loona, bring april (lalalilala has been stuck on my mind for days now), weki meki, gugudan, hinapia, some more dreamcatcher muses would be great too!

as for males, looking at our past requests: more nct, seventeen, victon, the boyz, bts, astro, sf9, stray kids, and pentagon members!

actor/actresses would also be welcome here!

any thoughts regarding bringing the coronavirus into rookies verse?

tw: covid-19 / coronavirus

there will be an announcement regarding this on wednesday after the activity check, so be on the lookout for that! but to answer one question right now: we are not going to make covid-19 occur in the rk verse.

edit: we decided this ask would suffice as a small announcement, given we don’t have much more to say for a larger one. it’s important to us that rookies remain a safe space for its members, and we know this is an incredibly anxiety inducing topic for many. everyone is dealing with enough of that irl, and we want rookies to be an escape for everyone during this time, so it wouldn’t make much sense for us to carry covid-19 into the rookiesverse. granted, you can write about your character being sick if you’d like, there just won’t be a pandemic/epidemic, and it’ll have to be a regular flu or cold. please be mindful if you do write about illness to put a trigger warning on what you post, since it’s an especially sensitive topic at the moment. it’s probably safest to avoid it all together.

personally, i’d love to see a hoseok or yuta. but what does everyone else think?
