Meet the Tutors: Jen, Illustration Tutor
Originally from the enchanted state of New Mexico, I am a Junior in the illustration program.
I am passionate about animals and work with them on a regular basis. My interests span a wide range of fields. When I was in high school, I thought about becoming an archeologist but quickly realized I struggled with languages and that art was my real passion.
I am proud to be a nerd and enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek, and various fanciful anime series. My favorite art assignment was the “New Dinosaur” assignment in Illustration Media. The assignment opened my eyes to the beauty and ease of pen and ink while I created a unique creature.
As I work with my peers, I hope to learn something along with them. There is a beauty in everyone’s perspective and to see it thrive is a gift.

Meet the Tutors: Graphic Design Tutor, Lea!
My name is Lea Greenwood and I’m a Junior studying graphic design.
I was born and raised here in Denver Colorado. Although, many might say that I spent most of my time with my head buried in a sketchbook, drawing things from my own imagination. I have always had a passion for art, especially drawing and painting. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school, however, while taking a graphic design class that I decided I wanted to pursue a further education and a career in graphic design. I chose RMCAD to pursue that education. I have fallen in love with the creative and supportive vibe of the community as well as this beautiful campus.
I have enjoyed my time here at RMCAD immensely and have loved every project and assignment. All of the unique people within this artistic community have been so supportive and have shaped me enormously on my journey as a designer. During my time here, I have especially discovered that I am very interested in the film industry, branding, and teaching. I look forward to combining the three in my career in some form. I love tutoring here at the SLC because I love helping and teaching people, especially because I learn so much from it!
When I’m not at RMCAD working on a class project, helping someone at the SLC, or making art, I love to listen to music and watch movies. My top favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, The Extra Man, and Disturbia. My favorite musicians are Gregory Alan Isakov, Ray Lamontagne, and the Black Keys. I would say that the theme song of my life is “Let the Drummer Kick” by Citizen Cope. Many people often interpret the song differently, but I have always seen it as a song about passion and of the stages of life that everyone goes through.
The best advice I have ever received while in my field of study (and throughout my entire life) is to never give up. I think this is a great piece of advice because it is applicable to all areas of life. It has always been disconcerting to see people become discouraged in whatever field they enter, especially artistic fields. I think that if you really love something, you should never give it up, regardless of your skills. And, as my favorite motto goes, “get up, show up, and never give up.”
