this isn’t the first time he’s shown up, tipsy, at her doorstep, but he’s been drunk enough times to retain his better faculties – including, of course, driving them safely to the destination. he’s her date, and he’d rather pick her up himself than have her take any other type of transportation. that simply won’t do. he’s an alpha, and he has a reputation to maintain, and god damn it, he’s her boyfriend, and it’s not often that he gets to act like it.
his shirt is unbuttoned, all hair loose as it always is. there’s a sense of put-togetherness that only money can replicate, and the only reason he might seem like he’s been drinking is the tinge of a blush on his cheeks, and the scent of his drink clinging onto the edges of his smile, and the thumbs only slightly fumbling about the keys to send her a text. ( he still doesn’t go through the front door. )

sometimes, he liked to think about how much better off he’d be if he’d never touched drugs.
money would be such a devastatingly pressing issue. past the necessary dues of a college student, insurance, taxes, it is shockingly cheap to live as an adult. kids might make it tougher. desires and hobbies, too, take some toll. but they’re not necessary.
funneling money into his unfortunate vice has taken a grand slamming toll on his cost of living, not to mention the thorny path he has to walk through every time he struggles to keep up with his intake.
sometimes, he knew how much better off he’d be if he’d never touched drugs.
“one of these days, j. one. my running tab with you will be closed off. promise.” a sly, toothy smile with an undercurrent of non bashful charm was never enough to shy jennie’s death stare away, but he offered it every time, and left with what he requested every time.
“smoke you out? have a j with j,” he sniggered, wiggling a joint in her face. “y’can tell me ‘bout all your dumb problems.”
