Thursday. Going to some great shows tonight! Listening to Angel Dust by Faith No More in the car. Epicloud has yet to arrive, dammit.
-Listened to a new song from Deftones called "Leathers". It's really really awesome. Definitely looking forward to their new album!
-Watched the new video for "Come Into My Head" by Kimbra. This was the best song that she added to her Vows album for the US release. Catchy and quirky, just plain awesome. This is the kind of direction I'd like to see her pursue, away from the dance/pop stuff. But either way, this chick is rad.
-Tried to listen to British Lion by Steve Harris, his new solo album. Made it 3 songs in before I turned it off. It's not bad, but it's not very good either. 'A' for effort though, it's nice to see Steve showcase his writing outside of Maiden-style songs.
-Listened to When I Was Young by Robert Gay while working. I love this record, can't wait til it comes out so I can play it for people!
-Listened to Black Gives Way To Blue by Alice In Chains. It's been awhile, but this record still stands up. It's a classic.
-Starting to practice for our KISSmas show, learning some new tunes!
-Casey went to Knoxville to see The Bad Plus tonight. He showed me some videos. I would love to see that band, insane musicianship.

Thursday. Listening to Revenge by KISS in the car.
-Robert Gay sent me a rough cut of the album he's been working on. It's awesome. Really excited for him to get this one out. Played it for Katie later on in the night. She agrees.

Thursday. Listening to The Idler Wheel...by Fiona Apple in the car.
-Heard some songs by a writer/artist named Derek Stroker from his upcoming album. Great soulful and grooving tunes, he's got a really good R&B voice. Check it out!
-Robert Gay sent me a cover of him playing "Don't Worry Baby" in honor of Brian Wilson's birthday yesterday. Awesome!!
-Watched a music video for a song called "Pink Beatles in a Purple Zeppelin" by Arjen Lucassen. Pretty decent song, really cool and trippy video. I mostly watched it because that song title is awesome (though limiting).
-MY DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT BOXSET CAME IN TODAY. By A Thread: Live in London. Expect lots of this to appear in this blog for the coming future. I now have 4 DVDs, 5 CDs, and a 7" to dive in to. Oh, how little words can express true joy...
-Watched a little bit of the Ki DVD. Looks and sounds amazing.
-Watched the Deconstruction DVD. Mind=blown. Have you ever seen something that you know in your mind shouldn't be possible? That's what it's like, for an hour and a half. So many moments of insanity and beauty, the whole thing is a highlight. Every person on that stage is stretching the limits of human possibility. A worthy purchase, for sure! And, not to brag, but I got copy 128/1000. Just sayin..

Tuesday. Going to Vegas tomorrow! Hard to think about anything else.... Listening to The Real Thing by Faith No More (www.fnm.com) in the car today.
-Listened to some of the previews of Robert Gay's (www.robertgaymusic.com) upcoming album. Seriously stoked for when that comes out!!
-Listened to a few tracks by Stagolee (www.stagoleemusic.com), one of the outstanding bands I heard last night at 8 Off 8th (see Live report). Excellent.
-Went to lunch with Goose Gossett (www.goosegossett.com). He gave me a copy of his album, As the Fog Rolls Off the River. It's got a great dirty groove. His voice is very bluesy and soulful, and the songwriting is high quality. And looking on the back of the CD, there's a star-studded ensemble that played on this thing! Seeing names like John Shaw, Brady Surface, Robert Gay, Kristen Rogers, Matt Scibilia, Jared Ziemba and Kellen Wenrich in the musician credits, you know you're in for a treat.
