Basket Case
Basket Case threads a strange path that navigates schlock horror with very primitive but surprisingly affecting creature effects, gritty urban realism, ensemble humor (with Robert Vogel particularly effective in his commitment to his role as the hotel manager), and wholesome young romance violated by unrestrained primitive urges. The low budget effects may actually work in the movie's favor by forcing the view to choose whether to make their own commitment about how they'll engage with the story.
