#Repost @circleofatonement ・・・ There is a great deal of discussion in #ACIM Miracle Principle 35 about possession, in part because Bill was afraid of it. The message I take away is this: I need not be afraid either of demons or earthbound souls taking me over. First, demons are defined as fallen angels, and angels can’t really fall, just as we humans haven’t really fallen. Second, my spirit is in the state of grace forever, and my reality is only my spirit, so nothing outside the state of grace has any real power over me. Possession here is redefined as being taken over by my own earthbound thoughts. All of our minds are full of earthbound thoughts and it seems like entertaining them is just a case of indulging our own free will. But in fact, we are letting an alien influence in to rule our minds. That influence won’t be named until Chapter 3, but it is familiar to every Course student: the ego. So I’ve let this alien influence into my mind, so now I am possessed by earthbound thoughts. And then I feel so defiled by it all that, to feel clean again, I have to project it outward, and see everyone else as being impelled by a demonic presence in them. This is hardly a case of me following the Golden Rule. Trying to rid myself of my inner garbage by dumping it onto someone else is obviously the opposite of doing unto others as I would have them do unto me. Where but #ACourseinMiracles would you have psychological projection related to (i.e., contrasted with) the Golden Rule? And yet, it makes perfect sense. The issue now is to catch myself in the act. - #RobertPerry
