TBT(onFriday) “untitled headstudy2” pen and ink on paper circa 2000-01 Day late on this one, but I wanted to share anyway. Looking through some old drawings this morning I found this one and smiled. I drew my ass off in graduate school. I was exploring new drawing directions and techniques the whole time I was back in New York. I had just finished my thesis on Robert Weaver and the New Wave iIllustrator’s of the late 1950’s and was filled with fire and discovery of all those breakthrough New York City illustrators in that time period. It was an explosive time for this new group of drawing based artists that were getting all the covers in those days! People like David Stone Martin, Tom Allen, Robert Andrew Parker, Jack Potter, Mia Carpenter, Lorraine Fox and even greats like Ben Shan were doing Time Magazine covers on civil rights. Amazing!
