Flash Fiction Month 2024: Week Four (And a Half)
It's officially August! Somehow!!! Too quickly, in my opinion!! But it does mean I've got one last round of stories to share!
Day 22: Past Keeping You Up
[Jodie's pretty sure she didn't order anything to begin with, but she definitely didn't ask for this. Warnings for allusions to a messy family situation (though not the worst from this month by far) and questionable resulting coping mechanisms.]
Day 23: In Shed
[The top review for a totally normal python plushie. Warnings for ominous snakes and potential child endangerment.]
Day 24: Overstimulated
[Now seems like the right time for some good old-fashioned autistic elopement. Warnings for sensory overload and a whole lot of internalized ableism baggage surrounding it on behalf of the narrator.]
Day 25: Looking for God?
[The ultimate after. Possible apocalypse warning? Pretty vague, though.]
Day 26: Not-Siblings Not-Squabbling
[New adventuring party, assemble! Warning for a technical animal death (a cat catches a fish), but nothing major.]
Day 27: Problem Players
[You arrive at the door to the deepest vault, locked and guarded vigilantly. What do you do? Warnings for some violence and fire and such, as one might expect from D&D, as well as the sort of people you should probably never play D&D with.]
Day 28: Free 1/2 Sandwich
[One half for each dragon... No warnings.]
Day 29: Transformative
[It's an act of corruption, her professors say. Warnings for transphobia, if mostly in passing.]
Day 30: Generative Destruction
[We have GOT to get rid of this thieving AI. Warnings for a dystopic setting, emphasis on the capitalism, and some technical minor character death.]
Day 31: Right On Time
[Ending in the same place we began! Warnings for some ocean-themed horror, and also ocean-themed body horror.]
And that's the lot of them! Had a lot of fun this year! And my fiddling with them might not even be over yet; I'm hoping to migrate my writing to AO3 and ditch the dying DA, so we'll see how that goes! We'll also see how Art of August goes! At.... some point.... my whole arm decided to hate me today, so I'm gonna be playing catch-up right off the bat. Hooray...
