Currently watching post-Reunion 2.0 and Robron's scenes are short and perfunctory. They are used to prop up other stories: Jimmy/Graham, Rebecca/Seb and a bit of Faith and then Liv. Apart from the episode after the reunion where we get their actual thoughts and feelings, and a scene between the two of them on their own, they are used in scenes with other people.
Robert cracks me up. Money is folded up in his pocket and it is definitely a habit of his that he never keeps it in a wallet. But their rings are kept together in a wallet.
Also, Aaron’s bed hair and soft face tells me that they were fully shagged out. Blissfully.
Robert still can't believe they are back together as there is a certain wonder on his face when Aaron hands him his key.
And that soft kiss. The promise of telling Liv together because that's what they do now: communicate together. Totally wonderful.
Also, it is a full year since they said goodbye to each other with that beautiful heart-shaped hug.
Robert kept trying to come up with reasons why Aaron was upset and should stay away from him. Not giving it long enough with Alex. That Aaron picking Robert was a mistake. That he hurt Aaron, which then made Aaron harm himself. But I think he wanted to protect his heart and stop himself from hoping that Aaron might want him back because he knew he would ultimately mess up again and lose Aaron again. And losing him again after living without him sounded like the worst thing ever for him, which is why he was hesitant in that moment in the garage about getting back together.
But I think the reason he did open the door to Aaron, which was the metaphor for opening his heart to reuniting, was because he knew that he could never ever stop himself from being with Aaron. He could never deny himself the chance of being with Aaron if Aaron offered himself to Robert, which is why 1st October 2025 non-reunion happened. I think he had decided to give their relationship a go as soon as he opened the door to Keeper's Cottage even before hearing Aaron’s reunion speech.
During their garage conversation in Reunion 2.0, I just love how Aaron pretty much tells Robert that he can't fight how he feels anymore. He has tried to ignore it all, by trying to find someone else in Alex and failing, trying to prove to others that he was over Robert, but it has just made it all the more obvious that Robert is the only thing he ever wanted. Thus ultimately proving that they are inevitable and can't be apart from each other. He knows something is missing without Robert and needs him to feel complete and whole, which emphasises their co-dependency. In that moment, he is giving in to it all instead of tirelessly trying to fight it. He's so emotional in that scene because it has been painful for him to pretend that he doesn’t want and need Robert. Because I believe both are inherently part of him now, a basic need like breathing.
And Aaron’s reunion speech as he lists everything Robert has done for him - my favourite bit is when he talks about how Robert has loved him more than anyone else, in a different way to anyone else. Because he knows deep down that Robert’s love for him is unconditional and ferocious in its intensity, it can not be matched by anyone else. He knows everything Robert has done for him in the name of love. He acknowledges it and is grateful for it, and in that moment, it is a pivotal moment for Aaron, who doubted Robert’s love in the past. But he wants to be the one that is there to help Robert when he needs it, which allows them to put their love on a more healthy and even keel, thus setting up their reunion and relationship as healthier than it was in the past.
The lads try to be so serious about trying to be friends and not get back together. They think it is the healthiest thing for the two of them, but they are really kidding themselves. Their break ups when they are already broken up are pure angsty gold but the two of them crack me up. Lads, you will never be just friends. Never ever.
25th December 2017: Did Aaron go to the hospital to see Robert with the intention of getting back together with him?

I absolutely love drunk Robert when he tries to give Aaron his Christmas present. It is so obvious how much Robert is heartbroken over losing Aaron. You can also see how much Aaron is trying to control his emotions as well. He closes his eyes and steps aside at one point as I think he's trying not to be drawn in again with Robert when that is exactly what he wants to do. And just in two months they are back together.
I wonder whether Robert thought nobody was going to be downstairs at the Mill when he came out of the shower. Or whether he came down topless because he wanted to get a reaction out of Aaron.
Either way, Aaron’s eyes were popping out of his head at the sight of a topless Robert.
