gather round its story time
on st patricks day of 2014 i was hatching wynaut for my rocket collection and my shiny hatched after whatever amount of eggs. i went to the IV checker to see what its stats were like and as i walked into the pokemon center, the egg directly after it began to hatch. i let it, as you do, and looked away from my screen for only a moment. when i came back to it, that’s when i saw what is, to this day, the most incredible thing that’s ever happened to me as a hunter--a second shiny wynaut had hatched, directly after the last, with no non-shiny eggs in between them.
one boy and one girl. i gave the girl to a friend and kept the boy for myself, and given that he was born on a holiday celebrating luck, given his incredible odds, i elected to name him Lucky.
Wobbuffet is my favourite pokemon, and Lucky was very special to me. unfortunately, a few years ago my sapphire cartridge broke and all my shinies were taken with it. Today I finally decided to reclaim Lucky, and I even caught the parent in a luxury ball to let him know how special he was whenever he decided to show himself to me.
Lucky must’ve known I missed him a lot, because I didn’t even get to finish breeding for natures before he ran to my arms. He hatched in exactly one box, on the 30th egg. It’s not quite the odds he had before, but it is still pretty incredible. That’s how I know it’s him, that’s how I know this is a real reclaim.
I literally cannot put into words how happy this has made me, I wasn’t expecting to feel like this was my old friend crossing dimensions to see me again but I do, I absolutely feel that way. Not only did he keep his ridiculous luck, but his original birthday--March 17th--is only four days from his new one.

this hunt really grated on me, idk why. guess i just wasn’t invested enough? it’s lasted a good 2 years just because i’ve fallen in and out of shiny hunting, but this week i powered down and hatched about 600 eggs and there she was.
total egg count was 847. Her name is Friend, because i grew up in the early 2000s.
ok, well... much like the kiteruguma who inspired her, this lady couldn’t wait to be my friend. i guess that’s why she shone after only 43 eggs.
with the right ability and nice IVs and everything! for a competitive breeder, an early shiny is usually frustrating--but this time, things worked out pretty nicely!
i was also lucky enough to get her in a level ball! it matches her so well and i couldn’t be happier!
haven’t decided on a name yet... wish my game was japanese so i could name her ‘ナニコノカンジ...” but alas. i’ll probably name her smth like MAMA’S HOME and bring her out to completely destroy people in battle.
Kumori was 529 eggs!! My second successful swap breeding story! Everyone I know who’s ever hunted mimikyu has had historically bad luck with it (1k hunts, usually, sometimes even 2k) so I’m extremely glad he elected not to curse me. Must’ve been the luxury ball.

hidoide is my first successful swap breeding attempt!! i was hoping for a girl, but i got a boy and decided to roll with it and name him bubblegum!
he’s 5iv, calm nature, regenerator, so i couldn’t be happier! he was 466 eggs, but it... really didn’t feel like more than 200? weird. guess i’m getting my groove back.
