Hey, don't panic! I'm relatively new in here, but your work is amazing, you are an incredible writer and one of my favorites. The thing is, if you really don't feel like continue with QaQ then don't. But don't let the few notes discourage you (1/2)
If you feel like you have nothing to offer with the series anymore, then quit. The time you need, it will be for the best, even if you never write it again. You may have little notes, but they are from people who really appreciate what you do (2/3)
Don’t let it be the reason that stops you from doing what you love.No work from no writer is bad just because it has few notes. We know you have a life and other stuff to do,and we respect that, but when you post you light up our day, we love you(3/3)
PD: Geez, sorry if it was too much, and also about my grammar 😁
I think you misunderstood my point. QaQ is my first, long, multipart fic. I planned it out to the point I’m at right now and beyond in fall quarter of last year. That was 2015. I have so much to bring to this series, but the issue is that no one acknowledges it. I will, undoubtedly, continue writing it because I will do it for myself but, the real issue here is whether or not I’m going to post it.
My gripe with the notes isn’t that there aren’t enough of them, though that certainly is a small issue. It’s the fact that the lack thereof shows an obvious disinterest on the part of my followers in what I’m doing. I didn’t start out writing fanfiction for anyone but myself, but as soon as I gained an audience I wanted to please them with my writing and surprise them with what I could do. I realize that I have a skill and that my talent isn’t measured by my success, but when you have a relatively large audience, it’s hard to understand why only fifteen people are applauding you when you know there are way more people there.
Something that has been repeated many a time by my fellow writers is the fact that, contrary to popular opinion, fanfiction isn’t free. Sure, writers put it out there and we’re not getting paid for it, but the flipside of that is that we need feedback. Not just likes or kudos or reblogs. We need comments and asks and messages telling us what your reactions are to our writing. We need to know what you like about what we’re doing and how it makes you feel. If we don’t know that, what the hell are we supposed to do? We’re riding blind here and you(not you specifically, but the audience as a collective) expect us to just keep going without direction.
There are only two fics that I can remember getting a big reaction out of people and that’s because Bonnie reblogged one of them and the other was based on a song from Hamilton which was incredibly popular at the time. I realize that the only reason I am where I am right now is because blogs who are bigger than I am have shown their support of me, and I am incredibly grateful for that.
In the end, I guess this is a long winded way of me saying I’m incredibly frustrated and I love you guys to death but, I wish you would talk to me more so I know what the hell I’m supposed to be doing.
