You know why Roger has never seen writing like this?

Because he's a upper class kid from England and these are American hobo signs. He'd have never seen this language in a book or encountered this anywhere in his world.

I don't know if there was any deeper intent behind giving these robots this particular symbolism. Like, if you want to suppose about how the robots must have come to the US at some point after 1880, learned the way of the bindle such that it became a large part of their own culture, and then just happened to get reverse-invaded by some broad on the other side of the same planet in 1962, by all means. I'm just going to write it off as convenient.

I've gone through the DLC, though, and taken nice photos of all the signs used and what they mean. As you can see, most of them - though for the robots' use - also apply to Roger's gameplay or comment upon it (beware of dogs). Clever!
