Finished Wings of Justice: Book 1, Rogue Flyer
Last night I found myself without anything to do. I decided to try sleeping, with the hope that maybe I could wake up early enough to leave the house not long after 5am and walk about 15 minutes (that's a bit of a estimated guess) to a park tree which I prefer to sit in while reading. I woke up to an alarm around 10 to 5, and thought "what's the point, I'm tired and I won't get there as early as I'd like". Though I realised that I wouldn't likely get another chance to do this for almost another whole week. Considering how long I've been wanting to finish the last three chapters of this book, I don't really want to be waiting another week. So I got up, threw some clothes on, downed a few glasses of milk, brushed my teeth, grabbed my satchel containing the book, and left around 5:25. I probably got about a third of the way before I decided to start reading while I walked. It was somewhat pleasant reading the start of the 29th chapter and noticing the sky reflecting what was written;
The coming dawn began to lighten the sky from gray to a pale, washed-out blue.
I have enjoyed this last Crimson Skies novel, much as I have the other two. I am disappointed knowing that there are no further book, especially given the except from Devil's Flight (what was to be book 2 of the Wings of Justice series) - found after the final chapter - has left me feeling as though there is somewhat more that I'm missing out on.
Now on to Philip Marlowe in Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep.
