The Rolfs are working on a guild!
Hello there people who are mildly interested in our antics. It’s been a blast playing a character that is so different from the normal demeanor and playstyle that I am accustomed to. I’m used to playing a character from scratch, but not one with a more kind and simple-desired mindset. We (The Rolfs) have been working on a guild/community for a while now but we haven’t finished ironing out all the details, I’d like to just throw this out there to gauge interest as well as have anyone interested reach out to us. So our short little synopsis: Huntsman! A grim, horror themed guild/community based around, well, hunting. Grim? Horror? Yes! I mention them as such because the events I intend to make are going to have gore, they will deal with more of the spooky scary-and we plan to make them difficult. No event should be a walk in the park for you, so if you like a more difficult, but rewarding, type of event and roleplay you’ll fit in well. Guild and community? Yep! Originally we thought to make it solely a guild, but we figured why exclude people? If you already have a home, we’d still love to have you by. One day we’ll be running things as a sort of hunter lodge where you can come in and take a bounty to go out and hunt (x), but that is plans for the future. Once you learn our combat system and get sorted you are welcome at our events whether you have the Huntsman guild under your name or you’re sporting your local Lord’s banner. Anyone can become a Huntsman. Those in the guild may just have a few...cosmetic advantages on people outside; (guildies may get to help design a monster one day, accolades, trophies, etc.) Nothing that necessarily gives an advantage, but something even still. How difficult? Typically many events seem to have your character cleaving through a single monster with ease, not here. I’ve taken monsters and built them from the ground up. Different monsters are weak to certain things, some are less susceptible to some attacks, and then some you have to play to your surroundings even. Every time you face a monster, we want it to feel like a raid boss because every monster is unique and worth being hunted for the good of man, the coin, or a fine trophy for the mantle. Monsters may be smart, brutal, or just too damn tough, you’ll need your fellow Huntsmen to bring it down, or to help you retreat if things turn south. What sort of monsters do you have? Well I’ve taken monster ideas and hooks from various other media; (Games, movies, books, Mythology from various regions of our own world, and the WoW lore itself) to make unique creatures that would be the equivalent of an IC rarespawn basically. You’ll have to learn how to take them down, and do so with care lest the hunter become the hunted. Things like the Kelpie from celtic mythology may show up on the board, a banshee, wraiths, wendigos- it’s a monster lover’s paradise. Unique combat system! Nothing is all that ‘unique’ any more these days sadly, but we are trying something new that is in testing before we go through with the guild starting: The Morale system. Everyone wants to be a badass, we get it, but every wo/man has their limits. We all have our breaking point. After playing Darkest Dungeon for the 50th hour, we thought, why not try adding something like that to spice things up? You are fighting horrible, crazy monsters, there should be a level of discomfort. The longer you are in combat, the lower your morale gets by various actions: (being damaged, environment, creature specific abilities) and the lower your morale gets, the harder the event becomes. Some creatures are unique even in that they specifically target your morale to try and defeat you, they will whittle you down spiritually rather than bleed you dry. This is all the shorthand of it. We have a good bit more of character abilities for combat, events out in the world, working with guilds, but I’m saving all that for an official announcement post. If you have any questions, might like to know more, or are just interested please feel free to reach out! We are still testing some things to make sure everything runs smoothly but we would happily keep people in the loop or possibly bring people on/around in the start.
