1066, THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS
Today, October 14, 2021 marks the 955 year anniversary of the Norman conquest over the Anglo-Saxons and England. I made this video four (almost five) years ago, because I was very inspiried by the actual historical events and the fine details concerning the battle. We should all remember and know more about this important historical event, no matter from where you come from. History is what makes us who we are.
This is a video about the Norman invasion of Anglo-Saxon Britain in 1066 and soon after the inevitable and crucial ''Battle of Hastings''. I combined some footage from various documentaries and historical reenactments and a song by the Anglo-Saxon lads from Forefather. The poem is from a short essay written in 1906 by unknown writer. I am not glorifying the Normans in any way, shape of form. Personally i feel like the English never should've lost that crucial battle, but i cannot judge past events that already took place centuries ago. It happened and that's it! I am and always were very interested in British and Anglo-Saxon history and also hungry for knowledge guy. Taking sides would be really childish and ignorant. ...though i very consciously cheer for the Anglo-Saxons and what they stood for.

THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS
In the early morning of 14 October 1066, two great armies prepared to fight for the throne of England. On a hilltop 7 miles from Hastings were the forces of Harold, who had been crowned king nine months earlier. Facing them on the far side of the valley below were the troops of Duke William of Normandy, who believed he was the rightful king. By the end of the day, thousands lay dead on the battlefield, and the victorious William was one step nearer to seizing the throne.

Crying 😭 😭😭 who hurt you???!!!
"-I'm not the person I once was."
seven-word sentence starters
“Aren’t we all?”
Melissa’s words were not meant to be harsh, but there was a sharp edge underneath it all. Rolfo probably imagined why - working for the Don, harassing the girls and herself, leading a kind of life that openly brought misery upon less fortunate souls… There was no denying it.
However, Melissa was hardly an innocent soul - she had been a victim of people similar to the Don, obviously; but she had grown up into someone capable of taking matters into her hands and using her position to also influence the lives of those around her. Whoever sided with the queen had her protection; but for those who didn’t…
Well, the reigning bee wasn’t afraid of making it sting.
Melissa’s features softened a moment after letting these words out. The transformation she had gone through made it too obvious and she sounded like a hypocrite to her own ears. Justifying it all was easy before a third party - but deep down was a different story.
How could she go around claiming she offered girls a second chance at life if she couldn’t really do it when it mattered?
Sighing, she turned around and faced Rolfo - he looked… Different. There was something dark and strong in his eyes, and none of his charm was present. He didn’t seem like the gangster she had met - it was an entire different man that was now talking to her, hidden among the boxes that occupied most of the basement of the inn and where they wouldn’t be easily spotted by anyone.
The mistress took a couple of steps forward then, reaching out to him - he made no move to stop Melissa while she fixed his shirt, a soft smile at the ever absent-necktie. Something that… Relieved her, in a sense. Ties were never good in her book.
Maybe it was the sign she needed - to take the proverbial leap of faith.
“I’m not the innocent little girl I was once either, Rolfo,” she said, but in a neutral voice this time. One of her hands went up to his face, brushing a dark strand of hair away and prolonging the actual touch a bit more than she needed - Melissa wondered if he had noticed it too.
“Prove to me you’re a changed man. I’ve been known for giving people second chances…” her thumb slid across his cheek, caressing it again, “I don’t see why I should stop now.”
