Roma, 🚩Piazza San Giovanni, Porta Asinaria. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇦🇺When some details make the difference...Here in Europe, it happens to live in cities having Roman origins or some ancient Roman borders. Very often we can’t see them clearly any more, and we have to use our imagination. Porta Asinaria helps us to understand how a gateway was meant to be, showing also some changes in design over time. Originally the Asinaria gate was made of a single arch and there was one tower at each side. Later on, Honorius became emperor (401-403) due to some new threats, he ordered a subsequent rebuilding.
