do you see any potential new romances around town?
Oh certainly! Especially when people are dealing with difficult times, they tend to cling harder to romances or find those that are important to them.
A perfect example of that is Preston Hawthorne after David Elmasri - after their bonding experience, its only a matter of time before those two start dating.
There is absolutely no platonic explanation for how close Ronan North and Harley Champman are becoming - I mean they went on a midnight stroll together.
Something tells me that it won’t be long before Heather Payne and Claudia Rinaldi are more than ‘just friends’.
There are plenty more examples, but these are the most obvious, I think.
While more information has been gathered on these mysterious beasts that terrorized the town and presented to the Supernatural City Council, they are no closer to being caught. One thing we may be certain of, though, is that Edgewood hasn’t seen the last of these fiends...
Below the cut is a summary of the events and encounters that took place over the weekend of the Wolf Moon.
In the days leading up to and during the full moon...
Frankie Holloway and Monty McAllister had a series of bizarre visions alluding to possible events taking place during the course of the Wolf Moon.
Friday, January 10th
Around 2:30PM an unusual howl was heard in The Outskirts. Not long after that, something attempts to enter the Mystery Shack. After the tour concludes, Phoenix Castillo discovers tracks around the building that head toward town.
As night falls and the moon rises higher, Monica Rodriguez took to the woods of The Outskirts. Here, she discovered a trail of red and blue colored tracks that smelled like blood and some kind of chemical. The tracks led towards town.
Around midnight, Bridgette Kingsley witnesses a cat-like creature attack Dr. Kenneth Blackthorne in the parking structure of Edgewood Memorial Hospital. While the security guard discovers the body and calls for a lockdown, a howl echoes from the city and the cat vanishes into the shadows.
At the same time, Charlotte Kingsley is run off the road near Old Edgewood by a massive wolf-like creature. She’s injured in the accident and makes it over the town line in time for the Veil to prevent the monster from mauling her. The same howl from the city draws the beast’s attention and it takes off toward it.
Saturday, January 11th
At 12:41AM, Monty McAllister finds Charlotte’s car and takes her to seek medical treatment. Due to the lockdown at Edgewood Memorial Hospital, they are rerouted to BHM.
Having heard the howl earlier in the night, around 3:00AM Logan Cree goes out to investigate the area. He covers from the North Star Lounge in Uptown to the Downtown area, and eventually discovers two bodies in an alley by the vampire bar Last Drop. One is still alive, but after touching Logan, she turns into a large wolf-like creature and attacks him. He’s left alive but injured, and with an unusual psychic connection to the beast’s other victims. Having sustained what he believed to be a werewolf bite, he seeks treatment at BHM.
The body of Nora Li-Marin is discovered around 4:00AM by police.
At 5:00AM, the lockdown is lifted at Edgewood Memorial Hospital and patients, visitors, and staff are allowed to leave.
Later that morning, Bridgette Kingsley relays what she saw at the hospital to the SCC’s witch representative, Rose-Marie Arceneaux. While there, she receives a phone call from her mother and learns of Charlotte’s accident.
Beatrice Larson gets the feeling something is following her, but every time she looks there’s nothing there.
Monica enlists Simon Romero-Martin and Ronan North to help her follow the trail she discovered in the woods the night before. Following the tracks, they discover two more sets of tracks heavily intersecting with the original. All three have a chemical smell, but a slightly different scent below that. The trail leads them to the Olympus subdivision and the golf club, both deep in Callaghan Pack territory. They inform Pete Callaghan of their discovery, and he takes the investigation from there.
After a morning of restfulness and healing, Charlotte gets restless and sneaks out of her room at BHM and goes exploring. She finds Logan Cree is also checked in and the two compare the events from the night before. Upon learning of Logan’s apparent connection to the creature, Charlotte attempts to scry for its location.
After all the... excitement of the night before, Xavier Bennett forgot to take his medication. As he goes about his day, he feels a presence following him as he runs errands and opens up the North Star Lounge for the evening. He serves a young woman asking odd questions about the attack the night before and swears he recognizes her from somewhere. It’s later he realizes he saw her in that day’s newspaper.
Sunday, January 12th
The body in the alley is officially identified as Nora Li-Marin. Publicly, her death is ruled as an overdose; the supernatural community know differently and host a vigil for her.
Late Sunday evening, Ernie Vesper was found critically injured in his warded bunker in the abandoned Olympus subdivision. He was found by Liam and Fiona Callaghan after Monica’s crew put the pack on the case.
Despite treatment of human and supernatural origin, Kenneth Blackthorne is unresponsive and his condition continues to deteriorate.
What We Know:
Three different creatures were involved in the attacks. While they resemble werebeasts, none of them were recognizable members of Edgewood were-packs or neighboring packs.
It’s likely they are not werebeasts at all, as the full moon did not seem to dictate their Changes, and their bite did not kill a vampire.
Two of the creatures resembled wolves, but larger and much larger than a normal wolf. The third resembled a large jaguar.
The jaguar is able to disappear into shadows, but also felt rage, relief, and fear while it carried out its attack.
The smaller of the two wolves was human before the touch of a supernatural turned her into her beastly form. She was fearful and apologetic before Changing quickly.
The larger of the two wolves is massive in size and seems to relish in the thrill of the chase.
The only known victims of these creatures’ attacks have been other supernatural beings. Christian Valentine, chief of police and SCC werewolf rep, still believes there may be other victims out there that haven’t been found yet.
Known victims include Dr. Kenneth Blackthorne (a warlock; deceased), Charlotte Kingsley (a witch; alive), Nora Li-Marin (a shifter; deceased), and Ernie Vesper (a shifter; alive).
Since the night of the Wolf Moon, no new attacks have occurred. Everyone injured by the beasts was attacked Friday night or Saturday morning.
A recap of character experiences from March 1st through September 30th, 2019.
Enjoy!
Audrey Mitchell
Went door to door searching for leads on the matter of Emilia Zimmerman’s mysterious disappearance.
Teased with an incomplete tale of misadventures featuring drink vouchers and drag queens.
Became a roadside savior to a car broken down on the back roads between Ashland and Edgewood.
Drank more caffeine than any one person reasonably should, no doubt
Met up with Russell Hemlock to freshen up his trivia skills before another game night at their usual haunt.
Had the worst Friday ever and, after letting some thoughts about her empty house get under her skin, talked herself into adopting a puppy.
Beatrice Larson
Beatrice had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. After a horrible morning, she got knocked into and spilt her coffee all over herself. David was nice enough to give her a spare shirt and a place to decompress
Beatrice was shocked by a bench after Claudia bumped into her on the street on Friday the 13th. She has no idea how or why the bench shocked her, it shouldn’t have happened like that.
Watched Audrey get shocked by a street lamp pole before the other woman knocked into her, spilling coffee.
Caterina Singh
After finally being awarded her promotion as a journalist (to write the gossip column under a penname), Cat went out celebrating and reconnected with some townies.
During a break at the summer festival, she explored the twisty fun-house with Tristan Kong and strange, unexplainable things happened.
For Valerie Bianchi’s birthday, Caterina hosted a small slumber party.
On an off day, she was reminded of some unfortunate events and had a small break down in front of Ronan North.
During Ashland Street Days, she helped some people find eclectic items after touring the booths several times and finding many oddities (seriously, who proudly displays a bedazzled cattle skull?!)
Charlotte Kingsley
Reconnected with her sister Bridgette, Preston Hawthorne, Rosie Arceneaux, Maxine Beauchamp, Monty McAllister, and other old friends upon her arrival back in Edgewood.
Got into a car accident with Mateo Garcia during the freak whiteout.
Took pictures of the local college campuses for Karen Pierce and the PTA for a collegiate project they’re working on.
Had a tense re-introduction to Trevor during the HAGS Carnival.
Wandered into the North Star Lounge purely by chance on the night of Logan Cree’s surprise birthday party.
David Elmasri
David rescued Preston Hawthorn from public humiliation and struck up a close friendship with him.
He found Juliet Hawthorn after she let out a significant amount of blood and became suspicious of whatever was behind this.
He saw himself destroying Brewed Awakenings in anger during a vision and brought a gun into reality. He buried the gun at Pleasant Rest Cemetery before anyone else could see, although he was caught in the woods with a shovel by Simon Romero-Martin.
He has been suffering with the internal conflict of his new found ability, unsure how to keep it under control or whether it has any benefit at all that is work the risk of getting caught.
Frankie Holloway
Frankie has been watching out for other patrons at bars.
Xe ran into Monty McAllister at the grocery store and caught up with him.
On September 13th, which fell on a Friday in 2019, Frankie was plagued by visions all day and had little control over xir other powers. Xir sense of sight also faded as the day went on.
Heather Payne
Heather has been growing increasingly frustrated with her job at Hope Wellness Pharmacy and is hoping for a chance to leave.
She is taking Wu Shu Kung Fu lessons from Tristan Kong, and she meets up with her friend Claudia Rinaldi after their kickboxing lessons together. She continues to also train in potion making and magic.
She met Raiden Dryad when she attacked him outside of his club. Their next few encounters weren’t quite as hostile and they even saved a man’s life together, but there is still some tension.
Friday the 13th in September of 2019 came with some strong side effects, including Heather losing control of her powers and almost exposing magic and her experiencing some intense visions.
Maggie See
Caught up with Maxine while spending the night out and a guy wouldn’t mind his own business.
Met Tristan when he rescued her from a creeper at a bar and then helped her deal with a potential panic attack.
Baked Trevor a rather lopsided cake for his birthday.
Maggie worked at the PTA carnival at the bake sale booth and taking tickets for the fun house, which gave her a funny feeling.
Reconnected with Monty at the carnival
Worked the bake sale booth with Trevor, made fun of Karen.Simon came and gave Maggie a break from the fun house
Logan came and tried to sell her raffle tickets
Mateo came and talked to her at the fun house
Valerie tried to get her to buy things from the bake sale table
Waited on Heather when she came into the diner, misunderstood her questions about another patron as finding him attractive
Ran into Valerie while out candle shopping, the two ended up browsing for candles together
Ran into Preston at the library, they chatted for a while and he asked her about baking advice, Maggie was surprised because she’s not had the best track record in the past.
Maggie saw a ghost and could not get away from it in time, resulting in her having a panic attack and freaking out on those who tried to help her.
Met Juliet, who was asking her all sorts of questions about ghosts. It seemed like she had a loved one that she wanted to talk to again. Maggie was not here for that, she just wanted to have a panic attack in peace, thanks.
Maxine helped her back to The Underworld
Heather tried her best to fight the ghosts for Maggie
Monty, being somewhat of a pro, helped Maggie get to somewhere farther away from the ghosts and helped her through her panic attack
Tristan wanted to get Maggie to a doctor, which she refused. He stilled helped her get to somewhere safer
She totally freaked out on Logan when he doubted the existence of ghosts
Maggie went to pick up some items that she had ordered from Miss Rosie and Simon was working the counter. They noticed what she was buying and tried to offer Maggie a protection charm, but Maggie didn’t realize that it was probably a gift and refused because she didn’t have enough money to buy anything else but what she had come in for.
Maggie went to the Underworld to celebrate Maxine’s birthday. She decided to let loose and get drunk, since it’s a space that she feels safe, and she knew that Maxine wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her in the club. She also made her a somewhat lopsided birthday cake.
Maggie found an ugly cat in the dumpster at work and brought it home, much to the annoyance of Trevor.
Ran into Monty on their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. She could tell that he wasn’t doing so hot but was refusing her help. But she also wasn’t feeling too hot so decided to take advantage of the fact that he wouldn’t turn her away when in need to keep an eye on him as well.
Maxine Beauchamp
Got some outsider opinions on what event Underworld Night Club should host next.
Due to an odd encounter in the woods, Maxine has now, semi-reluctantly, become a mentor to Phoenix Castillo.
Made a pact with Bridgette to go sober, because they both caught each other in compromising positions, but it didn’t last that long.
Conspired with Simon to change the terrible music at the carnival to something less abrasive.
Thanks to the input of others, Underworld hosted a amateur drag show for Edgewood’s Pride Week.
Her suspicions were raised after running into another potential vampire at her night club, so she is updating Ronan on their shared list of suspects.
And now she has celebrated her 33rd trip around the sun with some close (and not so close) friends.
Monty McAllister
Got turned around looking for a grocery store and ended up running into his childhood best friend, Trevor Wells.
At the HAGS Carnival, he split a funnel cake with a friend, then visited several others at the food booths. Later, he was spotted by his older sister, and consequentially made his return to Edgewood known to his family.
After a big falling out with his family, Monty had a little heart-to-heart with Ronan North in the park, and later struggled to deal with the aftermath of the disastrous familial encounter.
Met Karen Pierce while they were both fleeing his older sister in a crowded shopping mall.
During the events of Friday the 13th, he struggled to deal with an onslaught of visions throughout the day, the most notable of which featured Simon and a Change.
Phoenix Castillo
Phoenix has surprised many people on her adventures through the woods. She has made a new friend in Valerie Bianchi this way, but only thoroughly confused Tristan Kong.
She has started training her telepathy with Maxine.
She met Juliet Hawthorne at the Mystery Shack and found out that she is a vampire turned by Phoenix’s Great Uncle Leon. Phoenix is still hesitant around vampires though after some intense encounters with Logan Cree.
She has became friends with Preston Hawthorne after discovering a shared love of dance at the local library.
Raiden Dryad
Raiden and Juliet shared whiskey and exchanged taunts.
Met Caterina at Ashland Street Days and briefly discussed odd finds at the stalls.
Potentially insulted psychic werewolf Ronan North at Ashland Street Days about his father’s flannel shirts, and continued attempting to rile the wolf up.
Ran into Tristan outside the Crossroads Club, who was involved in an argument on his phone.
Had a suspicious meeting with Claudia after she barged into his club and admitted she had unestablished business with one of Raiden’s employees.
Almost beheaded Valerie with a mobile phone and had an odd conversation with them with supernatural-related jibing. Is currently attempting to suss out who and what they are at the Grille.
Was jumped by a blade-wielding Heather and came to a reluctant truce with the witch.
Tried to help Juliet hunt down Hawthorne birth records whilst acquiring his own sustainable blood supply at the hospital.
Introduced himself to Logan at the other vampire’s birthday party.
Offered Monty some guidance in choosing a dinner wine for his family dinner.
With some assistance, Raiden helped save a stranger’s life from a car accident.
Ronan North
Tracked down Wesley Callaghan with the help of his bartender, Evangeline Priestly, after Wes skipped out on another tab.
Bit the bullet and put some of his father’s old clothes up for sale during Ashland Street Days. Parting with those flannels was sweet sorrow.
Ran with Harley Chapman on a full moon.
Experienced some unusual bad luck on Friday the 13th. He lost control of his Change and turned in broad daylight while responding to his pack beta’s SOS. His other senses diminished as he found the beta and broke up an altercation between them and Simon Romero-Martin.
Russell Hemlock
At Ashland Street Day’s car show, Russell accidentally spilled ice cream on one of the cars and recruited help from others, only to find out it was Ronan’s late father’s car. Whoops.
Simon Romero-Martín
Upset a townsperson or two -and their balance- chasing after a “lucky” snail.
Volunteered as a face painter at the Have A Great Summer Carnival and made a number of the patrons’ day something truly magical.
Assisted Preston Hawthorne in ridding himself of a spell-generated doppelgänger that overstayed its welcome.
Spent every full moon diligently keeping their transformations behind lock, key, and spell…
Was interviewed by the watcher.
Bribed Monty McAllister with coffee and breakfast to hike out into the woods and help her take care of her cats.
Was rescued from having to walk their flat-tired bike home by Raiden Dryad.
Ran out of luck with their usual transformation preparations on Friday the 13th and stirred up some trouble with members of the Ashland pack.
Xavier Bennett
Talked classic cars and what their favorite decades were with Juliet Hawthorne at Ashland Street Days.
Gave Phoenix Castillo the shirt off of his back to wrap her bleeding hand after witnessing her trip in the rain, had an uncomfortable conversation about his psychic abilities.
Had dinner with Harley Chapman, but this is a weekly occurrence as she is his neighbor and one of his closest friends in Edgewood.
Served drinks to patrons such as Mateo Garcia and Bridgette Kingsley at Logan’s birthday party at the North Star Lounge.
Lamented about todays youth with David Elmasri at Brewed Awakenings when he went in for his morning coffee.
It’s difficult to say, so many people in this town are utterly gorgeous. Most notable would clearly be Tristan Kong. He’s flirted with nearly everyone in town, but you won’t see anyone complaining about that, for the time being. Valerie and the newcomer, Juliet, haven’t exactly been subtle about their attractions either. There’s also the fact that people are very willing to offer a hand to Maggie, no doubt some of it is to gain brownie points with her.
But I think the town has been so distracted by the obvious that they’re sleeping on gems like Heather (she’s got an admirable drive, for who knows what), Simon (a really unique person, unafraid to live their truth), and Ronan (I mean, he’s already got the bartender appeal, need I say more?).
If you were a matchmaker, who would you pair together?
Oooh now that’s a difficult one, but I am game. Let’s give this a go.
First of all, the most obvious, Trevor and Karen. Love and hate are not that different. Perhaps not a long standing relationship, but, and do excuse the crassness, they could both use it (because Karen’s relationship with her husband does not scream stress relieving). Or perhaps Audrey will step up to aid Karen...either way.
Sources say that Monty and Ronan had some good bonding time in the park. And isn’t that just the most romantic thing ever?
Charlotte seems to have been charmed by Logan, and good for her. It’s important to move on from high school crushes. Perhaps she could keep him grounded, and he could help her out of her shell.
Tristan and Caterina were seen zipping around town on a motorbike, and it seems like there’s tons of chemistry there.
Then there’s the two dark and mysterious ladies around town that seem to be breaking past each other’s hardened exteriors. Heather and Evangeline may be a great fit.
Sparks may have ignited between Harley and Juliet. I think those to could be a real dynamic duo, but we’ll have to stay tuned there.
Lastly, let’s not forget the relationship that almost was with Bridgette and Ashely, before he mysteriously vanished. Don’t worry darling, you’ll find another.
1. Is owning the Full Moon bar something you wanted, or a responsibility that was placed upon you?
It's... not where I saw my life takin' me, no. When my dad passed, he left it to me in his will and I guess I just haven't figured out what to do with it yet.
2. Have you always been patient when it comes to dealing with emotional people, or has working at a bar helped increase your patience?
Given the, uh, nature of the work my family’s been in, I’m used to seeing people in some degree of... crisis. So that definitely helped, taught me how to deal with a lot of delicate situations. But it’s definitely given me a new... perspective, workin’ at the bar. Slightly different delicate situations. I’ve gotten better at knowin’ when to break up bar brawls or when to just... let it play out.
3. What’s the craziest story anyone has ever told you at the bar?
Oh, Jesus Christ, let's see... Gotta make sure I get this right.
'Bout a year back, this chick came in after a driving shift at some... I dunno, some pizza place over in Edgewood. Shoves her way past the barflies, makes herself a spot right at the counter, and stares me dead in the eyes with this--this absolutely haunted thousand yard stare. "I need your strongest shit," She says, "It's been a weird fuckin' night."
So I'm gettin' her a bottle--something we had extra of layin' around, don't remember what--and a glass and I'm like, alright, everyone's got those kind of days so I says, "Oh, that's a bummer, what happened?"
Before sayin' anything, she takes the bottle and downs four or five shots right there--takes a breather, and then downs another one. Looks me square in the eyes again and says--get this, she says, "I hit an alien with my car, got stabbed by my clone, and got glitched out of the Matrix going back to work."
Now, I got real good at pickin' out liars over the years. This chick wasn't lyin'. Or, at the very least, she absolutely believed every word that'd just came outta her mouth, and at this point she's got just about everyone's attention: me, the other bartender--my brother, all the guys at the counter. Couple of 'em playin' pool even quieted down to eavesdrop. She took a couple more shots before she continued, but she started with the alien.
She had a delivery goin' up to some ritzy neighborhood in the boonies over there and is drivin' up this overgrown private road when this thing hits her windshield. Said it was there and gone in an instant, like it just kinda... smeared or brushed off like all the leaves and branches were doing. But she said it looked like a hybrid of a flying squirrel, a bat, and a gremlin. Freaky shit, but nothin' I haven't heard about before.
Then she says on the drive back, somethin' was following her. Saw it outta the corner of her eye, about level with the power lines, keepin' speed with her. Somethin' shiny and football shaped, about the size of her car, was flying alongside her. Said it sped up, slowed down, and kinda wiggled a little before this flash of green light and the thing shoots off into the distance.
So she's like, yeah, that was weird, but then she sees something outta the corner of her other eye. Sitting next to her in her passenger seat is herself--like this twisted, alien version of herself staring right back at her. Now, she's still driving the car at this point, still driving back. This clone stares at her for a couple seconds and then pulls some kind of blade or somethin' out of nowhere and stabs her.
“All of a sudden,” She says, “As soon as it stabbed me everything just stopped. I blinked and I’m back in the driveway I was just at. Pizzas still sitting in the front seat, the people are waiting at the front door so I put a pause on the pending freak out.” So she takes the stuff to the door and everything goes just like it did before, but on her way back to the car she feels something wet under her shirt--in the same place her clone had just stabbed her.
She lifts up her shirt to check it out--and there’s blood. She wipes it away and there’s a scar that wasn’t there before. So she drives back to her store in a total daze, just--left work and drove straight home. Or, to the bar first and then we made sure she got home. But it was crazy, she still had the same shirt on--she showed us the blood, showed us the scar and it was just so... bizarre. It was definitely her blood, too.
4. Is someone you trust enough to open up to? If so, who is it?
Oh man, yeah, of course. I’ve got my brother, Cam, and my cousins, and of course Harley. I’d be lost without them.
5. What are your thoughts of Edgewood now that you’ve been here a while? Is there someone that has caught your eye?
Edgewood’s got a good energy about it, it seems like a nice place. If--when I get the rest of my dad’s stuff taken care of I might look for a place over there. But, uh, yeah. There’s some people that’ve... stuck out, some I’d like to get to know better.
1. We all know ‘good girls’ have a bad side, so tell us, what’s the most risque thing you’ve ever done?
Ha, leaving my entire life at the drop of a hat? Does that count as risqué? If not, I used to steal food to get by as I moved from town to town. I hated that I had to do that, but no one would hire a stranger with seemingly no background.
2. Your behavior screams flighty, are you on the run from something?
Oh, wow, that’s cutting to the point. I’m not running, per-say, I left a situation that wasn’t good for me and I have no intention whatsoever of going back.
3. Is there anyone in Edgewood that you truly trust?
Trust is something that takes a long time to earn. I take trust very seriously, and if anyone breaks it, I take that to heart. In Edgewood, there is at least one person I completely trust, and that is Ronan.
4. In your opinion, who are the most attractive people in Edgewood?
Like physically attractive? I mean, that’s not exactly what I base my judgments on but I guess because you asked, uh, Logan and Juliet come to mind.
5. Lastly, what traits do you look for in a potential partner?
Uhm, well, trust, kindness, caring, and genuine. Physical traits aren’t really that important to me, personality is what I look for more than anything.
