The McCarthys Review

               Yes, this review is halfway through the season, but consider it a midseason review. I was looking forward to The McCarthys. I completely related to the New England sports obsession and the family that would drive you crazy, but you love anyways. The family was close, together often, but occasionally got lost in translation as different interests came off as if they were speaking a different language. I wanted to see how it would go, because though it seemed funny, it did need some work.

               The McCarthys is a show that I instantly loved.  And I bet my family isn't the only one out there, who like the McCarthys, live and breathe their hometown sports. When it started off, it needed work. The family didn't understand Ronny at all, and many jokes relied on stereotypes. It just needed to find its way. They are a crazy close family who are divided on interests, especially where sports are involved. They can be a bit overbearing, constantly involved with each others' lives, to a frustrating and annoying degree, but that is what made it so funny. By exploring the characters more, establishing them beyond the stereotypes, but never losing the focus on the family, the show has done quite well. If you haven't tuned in yet, you should. I will be continuing to watch The McCarthys, hoping it doesn't stop improving and waiting anxiously for the next family wackiness to occur.

The McCarthy
