No glove, no love.
I forgot to bring my gloves up with me on a roof and ended up with what looked and felt like second-degree burns on my thumb and part of my palm. Blisters and everything.
The part that got me was that it was only supposed to be around 90°.
But roof heat does not care what the weather app says. When a roofing system is holding heat badly — especially with poor ventilation — that surface can turn into a skillet fast.
Poor ventilation is not just uncomfortable for whoever is on the roof. Trapped attic heat can make the HVAC system work harder, increase cooling demand, and contribute to faster shingle aging over time.
So yes, the title is a little ridiculous.
But the lesson is real:
Roof heat is different.
Ventilation matters.
Gloves matter.
And shortcuts have a way of collecting payment.
Roofing will humble you quick. This one got my attention.
