The Room Addition Daydream
Scrolling Zillow got me thinking about square footage.
Not because I want to move (hell no, not with these interest rates), but because my house feels just shy of enough space. We don’t need a mansion—just one more room. A sunroom for morning coffee? A proper home office? A playroom that isn’t just the living room with toys thrown into a bin?
I started researching room additions and quickly realized it’s not as simple as slapping on four walls. Permits, foundation work, rooflines—oof. But then I found Mosaic’s room addition services page, which broke it down without making my brain melt. They highlighted a project where they added a sunroom that blended seamlessly with the existing house, complete with skylights and French doors.
Now I’m obsessed with the idea of:
A bump-out for the dining room (no more elbow wars during dinner).
A first-floor flex room (yoga studio by day, guest room by night?).
Or, if I’m really dreaming, a second-story addition (hello, primary suite escape).
Realistically, this is a "someday" project. But it’s fun to imagine knocking on walls and saying, "What if this was open?"
