Also: Maybe Rosa giving Bea her ring is supposed to correspond to the thing in LoLaLo where the ladies trade the gifts their boyfriends have given them (and are masked) so the men end up wooing the wrong women and not realising it? I mean, without that consequence, obviously...

Maybe! It wouldn’t be a direct correspondence, since they do the gift-giving scene in “Gifts!?” but it could be a reference or a nod.

Mostly, I just want to know where that freaking story is from. I’d take just about any explanation, at this point. The whole fake ring/dead head-of-the-family thing is also kind of reminiscent of a story in The Decameron, I just can’t think of why on earth they’d decide to reference The Decameron.

Headcannon that the real reason Ben always edits out whatever Rosa is saying is because she speaks so fast, he doesn't know what she's saying and is annoyed with himself that he can't understand her. Also, I'm going to need a transcript of that video because I only caught half of that.
