Her fist rapped against the door twice, then after an impatient pause, five more times. Rosalia hadn’t been gone for long but the uncertainty of her situation made it feel like an eternity and Elvyra was eager to see her friend for herself. It was only by chance that she’d even caught wind of the girl’s return, overhearing a conversation that may not have been intended for vampire ears by the way the fallen angels had mumbled about their allied species’ negligence. It was the first and only mention of her name that’d gotten back to Elvyra since the party and it filled her with equal parts relief and dread. What Rosalia would be returned to them? The same wild little partner in crime that was taken or a shell of her former self, riddled with fear and distrust?
Now, pacing in front of the door, she fidgeted with the short hem of her silk robe, contemplating what sight she might be faced with on the other side. If Rosalia even opened it.... If she was even here. There was a chance she’d misheard and that the fallen angel was still god knows where with god knows who being subjected to god knows what. Or there was a chance she was waiting on the other side, covered in scars and bruises and needing to be alone. Or maybe resenting Elle’s presence altogether. The vampire could have done more. As soon as she had realized something was wrong, she had left without a word. Had Rosalia been in that same room, lost in the writhing pile of bodies? Could a warning have given her the time she needed to escape too? “Fuck...” she mumbled, letting her forehead clunk against the door. @rosaxlunar
