At the supermarket this morning, and at the end of the aisle where they put seasonal stuff is a display of......matzoh and gefilte fish?
I stop. I blink. And then I realize.
This is their Rosh Hashanah display.
To their credit, there is also honey. At the end of the next aisle.
There is also kosher cup of noodles (Tradition brand), matzoh ball mix, Tabatchnick broths/soups, and Kedem grape juice.
In short: "There's a Jewish holiday coming. We'll put a bunch of random stuff from the kosher aisle out on display!"
I made this primarily to share with some friends in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah coming up, since I'm planning to host a COVID cautious dinner. I figured I'd share in case anyone else finds it helpful. I know it's not the clearest in some places, so don't hesitate to ask me questions if you have any!
Just about that time, jumblr
helloooo jumblr. I am in need of synagogue recommendations in Barcelona for the high holy days. Notes:
I speak English and Spanish, but I wouldn't mind services in Catalan
Reform or Conservative [or the euro equivalent]
Absolutely no mechitza, we must sit together
Slight preference for Ashkenazi, but I think it'd be interesting to experience other minchags' services
Thank you for your help!
a rosh hashanah postcard dated around 1900-1920. depicts jews under the american crest reaching out to jews under the russian crest, referencing the influx of jewish immigrants to the united states during the rise of eastern european pogroms in the late 1800s-early 1900s

Rosh Hashanah and the Book of Life
This is another in a series of excerpts from The Book of Life: What the Bible Says about God’s Registry of the Redeemed from High Street Press and available at Amazon. This except comes from Chapter 12: Rosh Hashanah and the Book of Life. Rosh Hashanah is one of the seven major feasts of Israel, occurring on the first day of Tishri, the seventh month of the Jewish lunar calendar – September or…
