Making my own post but I was inspired by another, BUT: happy pride to aromantics and asexuals who have a complicated relationship with one of the above, who don't know exactly where you fall on that spectrum, who are FUNCTIONALLY aro/ace for whatever reason but aren't sure if it's just outside influence causing it or a way you were born, etc etc. Happy pride to complicated identities, complex relationships with sex, romance, and gender, and those for whom none of the current labels feel exactly "right." Happy pride to people with labels that seemingly conflict with each other.

All that these labels are are humans trying to put abstract feelings into words, and sometimes there just isn't a word yet for exactly what you feel, or the words that exist supposedly can't be used together the way that you do it. Sometimes there is a feeling that words just fail for. That doesn't make those feelings less real, or make you totally alone-- there are so many people in this world that certainly, at least one other HAS to've felt the way that you do.

Y'know, I started to type out a massive post about how sad and frustrating it is that every USAmerican southern character in anything is presented as ignorant and uneducated and "dumb" and even hateful, how there are people here with degrees and careers and incredibly complex skills that took years to develop and learn, and then I realized, fuck that-- yeah, there are a lot of people with no or little education down here. We're fucking poor. A lot of us just can't afford college. A lot of us have to get jobs instead to support our families. Some people dropped out of high school to do that. And you know what? They're still human beings who deserve to be represented as whole, real, functional people and not flat archetypes.

Like yeah, I could talk about all the talented and smart people who came from down here, but the "simple," the disabled, the uneducated down here don't deserve the way the media depicts them, either! Because the bulk of them are good people who just got dealt a bad hand because we are so pathetically poor down here. And yeah, that includes the addicts. We have a lot of addicts down here. And that isn't our fault, either. when you're dealt the worst possible hand and no one wants to help you, everyone regards you as being trash, you're gonna cope however you can.

Everyone wants to write us off and present us in media as pretty much just. nothing people, but there are many, many people here of all walks of life who deserve respect and who need help that they aren't getting BECAUSE nobody shows us any fucking respect, and the way the media depicts us consistently does constant, DEEP damage to the way the rest of the country views us. It isn't fucking fair and it isn't fucking okay.

we have GOT to stop treating nonbinary as being like, a temporary transition point between binary genders

like people are so eager for nonbinary creators/other people to take up new binary pronouns after a while of being nonbinary and it's like. dude yall know being nonbinary is just. an identity of its own right. like it isn't just an "idk I'm inbetween pronouns rn" stopgap it is a whole ass thing of its own that you can continue being forever

I've been using the internet since 1997. I was in both Homestuck fandom AND DSMP fandom at their respective peaks. I have seen the rise and fall of many fandoms and ship discourse you can't even begin to imagine. You can't kill me in any way that matters

BTW in case in wasn't clear, we support addicts on this blog. I don't give a shit how severe or dangerous or "selfish" the addiction is. I wanna be very clear here: this blog is a safe place for addicts. Forever. No caveats.

I personally have a nicotine addiction that I struggle with a lot, and I've spent my entire life in a very poor rural area full of people struggling with a variety of other addictions, both less and much, much more severe than my own, and I would offer every single one any kind of help I can if I had anything to offer. People who hate addicts, however, are NOT welcome here. If you look down on addicts, if you blame them for their own troubles and misery and consider them undesirable, block me and maybe go sit down and think real hard about the kind of person you wanna be.

I love you, addicts, whether you're recovering or not, whether you're in a place where you can't or don't have access to needed resources or just don't want to right now, or you're years into your recovery. I wish you all good health and happiness.

It's heartbreaking that things ended the way they did but you'll have to put me down to stop me from still wanting to talk about and enjoy the good parts of it. I'm still gonna celebrate just how good it WAS while it was good because goddamn, it was good.
