Hello my dear! Could you please write some headcanons for both Lotr and Harry Potter, about how Cedric, Harry, Fred & George and Aragorn would react to dating a seamstress, or someone who sews and makes their own clothing and embroidery.

Particularly for the Harry Potter character, the reader is a Wizard/Witch, but she still does "muggle" sewing because she finds it fun and makes them all sorts of clothing and such. I imagine they'd be kinda surprised to see a Witch doing muggle hobbies, but she can make them clothing or something and they might warm up to it. Thank you so so much!! I hope you're doing well hun

Cedric

- he's mesmerized by your skills

- he knows how to make his own stuff through magic but when he watches you do it, take the time to plan and set everything up it seems so much more meaningful

- you look so incredibly calm while you work

- he has a lot on his shoulders with school and so do you

- how the heck are you so calm!?

- he teases you gently about it because he likes to be out and about while you stay inside to do your own hobby

- he also teased you because it's just so much easier to do it with magic

- but you can tell just how much he loves it when he's tired from classes and comes to sit beside you, watching your fingers work and move quietly in the common room

- the fire crackling behind the two of you...he hasn't known such peace since entering the Hogwarts threshhold

- and you gave it to him <3

Harry

- despite Harry having lived in the muggle world, he has never seen anyone really embroider or anything before

- you kinda tease him about that

- "Harry you lived in the muggle world how-"

- "Just never came across me before!"

- he asks you to teach him probably and then gives up like ten minutes in because it's too hard

- he can leave it to you

- if you make stuff for him he's so grateful like-

- the boy's only gifts he's ever gotten has been from Ron's family, Dumbledore and the few gifts his parents had left behind for him

- so he like hangs it up or wears it even if you think it could have been better

- "Harry you don't have to wear that-"

- "I'm going to and that's final."

- you try arguing with the chosen one

Fred & George

- the way they abuse your skills

- they made you teach them like the bare minimum and then whenever someone asks what they've been doing they say they were sewing with you

- George actually liked to do it with you and he picked it up rather quickly

- Fred hurt himself five minutes in and never went near a needle or sewing machine ever again

- whatever you make you have to make two of because they're big babies and need everything to be equal

- 'Can you make something that isn't flammable?"

- flaunts your skills 100%

- everyone in their class knows you had skills in sewing and embroidery and no one knows exactly why they know it

- personally steals supplies for you

- and they never get caught. ever.

💚 Alright, so I saw the chance to ramble, and the flood gates came crashing open, so I hope you don't mind me infodumping about Armor and Medieval Combat for a hot second.

Many people don't know about this, since the most common media portrayal of armor is full-plate, but there's a very important and cool type of armor called Gambeson. It's layers upon layers of linen sewed together, so hitting it is like hitting a pillow, more or less. It's surprisingly effective, especially the thicker gambeson, and when paired with other types of armor too.

And there's different names for different types of armor too! Those (sometimes leather) shoulder guards are called Pauldrons, and the skirt-like Faulds protect your hips, which usually have Tassets hanging off of them to protect the upper thighs.

And did you know, when riding a horse, you should always keep your toes pointing up, or else you'll fall of way easier. And when practicing archery, you always need to lift your arrow higher than you'd expect, since your eye isn't on-level with the arrow, so you need to lift it up to hit your shot. And, most medieval archers never used quivers, instead holding the excess arrows between each of their fingers, since quivers are basically useless for mounted or on-the-move firing because the arrows will just fall out.

I am genuinely so interested in Medieval armour after studying the Medieval period for a module during my degree so this made my brain go all tingly with new facts!!! Also as someone who used to practice archery that arrow fact hit hard lmao

Hi, very sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could ask about Altars for a minute. I’m interested in building an altar, but I’m not particularly pledged to any one deity or spirit yet, so I wanted to ask what exactly Altars can be dedicated to. I’m thinking of building one for the Spirits and Creatures of my home, backyard and garden, but what other kinds of Altars can I build? And what should I put on them, and what offerings should I give? Thanks so much in advance, I hope you have a great day!

You’re no bother at all, and you can absolutely create an altar for anything you want! It’s your altar and space, and it’s up to you what that looks like and who/what it’s dedicated to.

Here’s an example of what you might put on an altar for trees!

As for offerings, that can really depend. I’ve offered herbs, food*, water, coins, art/creations, seeds*, etc.

*if offering outside ensure it’s safe for the area or skip this—I don’t offer food for the sake of the animals and I only offer native seeds!

Get creative! Have fun with it! Make it your own! Play around until you find something that feels right, it doesn’t have to be perfect right away/ever. My altars are always changing :)

Hello! If your requests are open at the moment, could you please write some headcanons for The Hobbit about how Bofur, Fili, Bilbo and Dwalin would react to their crush, a short and cute Human Craftsmen girl, giving them a metal rose she made herself in her workshop for them? And she's super cute and flustered to give them it, and how they'd react to her making them a bunch of stuff like that? Thanks so much, I love your blog btw!

Bilbo - 

Bilbo would be so fucking tickled. He’d collect your metalwork roses like a bouquet and keep them displayed proudly on his kitchen table. Every time you brought one of your works home, he’d be so in awe of every delicate detail.

Bofur - 

Bofur is no stranger to delicate work, his own cousin being a toymaker. But your works were always his favorite. Delicate flowers, beautiful knives, he’d adore all of them. His heart would just swell as you approached him shyly, nearly whispering “I made this for you.” 

Dwalin - 

Dwalin would absolutely adore the blush on your face as you handed him such a carefully crafted rose. It would look so small in his large hand, but he’d love it. Not because it was a rose, but because you spend so much time carefully placing petals, and bending the metal to your will. He’d take to rose with such care, and place a soft kiss to your forehead as a thank you.

Fili - 

Fili would want you to teach him, or at the very least just let him watch. When you brought him a gift, he’d kiss your calloused hands, blessing them for all the delicate work that they do. Fili would always try to make you something beautiful and delicate that would compliment you and your work.

How do you think Thorin would react to falling in love with a girl who's very creative and incredibly smart and is just all around very interesting, but she's so introverted and nervous that she ends up isolating a lot? So he ends up being fascinated with this genius who unintentionally avoids people because she's shy? Sorry if that's a weird request, but thank you so much in advance!

I can see that very much. I think any woman that catches Thorin’s eye would be someone he finds ‘different’ and intriguing. They make him think. I also see Thorin trying his best to somehow spend time with her, without overstepping the boundaries. He’d be respectful enough to keep his distance because he can see she’s introverted and likes her space, yet he wants to delve more into her mind and learn about her. So this is when he tries his utmost to do things near to her, or puts her on look out duty alongside himself.

Hello, I just wanted to stop by and say that you're an amazing person and I LOVE your work! Especially your art!! I love the Bardfur stuff, I would've never even thought of that pairing but it works so well and I absolutely love it thanks to you. Your depictions of Bofur are absolutely spot-on and hilarious, you seem really cool and have a good sense of humor, and I really admire that. Hello! Very sorry to bother you, but I have this idea for a story, and I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on something. I have this idea where a Mountain Dwarf moves to a more seaside town, and while she misses the mountains, she ends up falling in love with a Selkie Girl. So, how do you think a Selkie / Dwarf relationship would go? Like what interactions can you see there that'd be super cute or dramatic? Thanks so much, sorry if this is too weird of an ask! Ohhhhh! First of all, that sounds delightful. Ssecond, while I may not have particular pointers about Selkie/Dwarf relationships (they are your characters, I am certain they will tell you what they want to be doing <3) I absolutely must tell you about a Norse myth that they could both be very dramatic about. Both dwarves and selkies feature in Scandinavian mythology, so this would be fitting for them to know (and worry and pine!) about.

When the Norse gods of Asgard killed the Jötunn Thjazi for kidnapping the goddess Idun, keeper of eternal youth, they did not expect repercussions. They should not have forgotten his daughter Skadi, a young goddess from the high snowy mountains. But the daughter would avenge her father’s death, wrong though he had been, and clad in her chain mail and helmet and bearing her weapons of war, she came down her mountain on her skis. The gods, acknowledging her grievance, asked if she would accept reparations in place of vengeance, and Skadi agreed. Among the terms was that she could choose a husband from amongst the gods of Asgard. This was agreed upon, but she could only choose her husband by looking at the gods’ feet. After much deliberation Skadi chose a young man with fine feet as white as snow. She guessed that those could only belong to the fair god Baldur, but it turned out they belonged to the sea god Njord. The two deities liked one another upon closer acquaintance and soon the gods celebrated a magnificent wedding.

However, after the wedding the couple could not decide where their home should be. Njord lived by the sea shore, in a place where the weather was always soft. While Skadi lived high atop the ever snowy mountains. For nine nights they slept side by side in the mountains, but Njord was plagued by the cold, no matter how warm the embrace of his wife, and the howling of the wolves in the night made him shudder. So down they went to the shore and once again dwelt there together for nine nights. But Skadi could not stand the heat and the cries of the sea birds kept her awake, no matter how calming her husband’s presence.

So finally the young couple decided to part, she living on her mountain and he staying by his shore. They could not love each other’s homes, but this did not prevent them from loving each other. At the feasts in Aegir’s halls they would toast each other, and - warrior that she was - Skadi would hunt the enemies of Asgard side by side with her husband.

Doesn’t that sound like just the thing a young Sea VS Mountain couple would be sighing about? (Maybe minus the vengeance and the blind marriage...)

I hope this gave you some inspiration for your story and I really hope you’ll have a good time writing it! It sounds like a wonderful setup.

Hey hun! Just wanted to wish you some good luck with school. Today's my first day back as well, so hopefully we can cruise through this together. Thanks for being so nice, I've been really struggling lately because my Sleep Apnea is getting worse, and I'm really worried because I'm not allowed to have a CPAP yet, but my condition could possibly be Fatal if untreated, so that's been gnawing away at me for awhile.
