“Sempre sobra pro cara que não bebe ajudar os perdidos no álcool. Não que eu esteja reclamando.” @amoraprimeiraesquina
i’m... really gay.
lunch date lunch date lunch date
i... have a date with Roy.
holy shit.
I promised I’d make a headcanon post about how Roy (slowly) warmed up to Lucas, and I intend to deliver.
First of all, Ponyta wasn’t particularly happy about getting caught by a random trainer. While the trainer seemed nice enough, he had heard way too many stories about how cruel humans can be to just trust him.
Sensing the discomfort (and being desperate to have some form of backup for Highwind in the Eterna Gym), Lucas struck a deal with him; if Ponyta helped him with this one thing, Lucas would then release him back into the wild. No questions asked, he’ll go right back to Oreburgh and release him exactly where he caught him. (It should be noted that looking back on it still makes Lucas cringe a bit.)
Ponyta agreed for two reasons; he saw an opportunity to prove his strength, and he wanted to see if Lucas would actually hold up his end of the deal.
Which Lucas did. Ponyta was thrown for quite the loop when he was let out of his PokeBall and found himself right back where he was caught.
That was the actual moment Ponyta decided to stay in the team for good. The Ponyta promised himself not to get too attached to this ridiculous group, but it was right then that he realized; that’s exactly what he ended up doing. Eterna City was a good distance from his home, after all.
So, Ponyta stayed and was thusly dubbed ‘Roy’.
Of course, none of this stopped Roy from constantly butting heads with Lucas and his teammates. Most of the time it was all in good fun. There were other times that he got annoyed with how selfless Lucas was, though. Always jumping in to help people and whatnot. More than once he had questioned if Lucas had any sense of self-preservation whatsoever.
As time went by, though...he found himself trusting him and his teammates more and more. It was a slow process. There were times that he couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, especially when Skipper and Garnet joined the team. The realization hit him like a sack of bricks before they took on the Snowpoint Gym; ‘Oh. I love them. I’d trust them with my life.’
Of course, it was after the battle with Candice that he reached the point of evolution. Roy kept pushing it off, using Agility every time he felt himself change to stop the process.
Then the climb to Mt. Coronet happened, and I already went into detail about how he evolved on the way up to Spear Pillar. That was really the point where Roy accepted Lucas. Not as a trainer (he did that part a long time ago), but as a friend.
