Okay but THAT LEGION TRAILER THO
Isn’t my son just the most precious thing in the entire universe?
What's your child like when angry?
Oh, Light. You wouldn’t guess it if you only ever saw him on his good days.
He’s one of two things, depending on... uh, way too much to cover in one answer. He’s either the calmest damn thing you ever seen, or a tornado of rage.
Lemme just give you two examples.
One time, someone... who I’m not gonna name, someone brought up something at a Chamber of Petition meeting that was just so... personally insulting to Anduin that I couldn’t tell if they were serious or not. They were basically asking him if the reason he hasn’t got a wife yet is because he’s impotent. And I was there shaking, trying not to hop down from the damn stage and just wallop the guy in the face, and Anduin beside me just - calm as a damn lake, I swear - asks the guy if that’s the reason his first wife left him, and tells him not to project his problems onto the royal family. Lemme tell you, no one asked about the betrothal again for a good few months after that one.
And the other time, uh. Well, see, it was after the Cataclysm and he’d just got back from his training at the Exodar. We were, uh. We were fighting a lot back then, and I was getting lots of that cold shoulder stuff. He’s damn good at it, I’ll give him that. Got it from his mother. Only it’s Remembrance Day, so we’re heading out to his mother’s tomb, and we’re just talking and making amends when I notice this rustle in the bushes. Long story short it’s a Twilight ambush, and we both do a damn good job of defending ourselves ‘til this one bastard gets a damn axe through my chest.
I figure, right, that’s it, that’s the end, and start saying my goodbyes. Only - swear this is true - Anduin isn’t having any of that, and he literally parts the damn clouds to make sure I stay alive ‘til the proper medics can take a proper look at me. Light, you should’ve seen him - so much, just... fury.
Lemme tell you, if the Legion don’t turn and run when they see that boy doing his thing, they’re more fools than we ever could’ve known.
“I…think I’m in love?”
> an alternative universe in which, to secure an allegiance between the Iron Horde and the forces of Azeroth ahead of the fight with Gul’dan’s forces in Hellfire Citadel, Grommash Hellscream arranged the marriage of his son to the premier bachelor of the Alliance - Varian Adamant Wrynn.
The words took Varian even further aback than the shy expression on Garrosh’s face had - the expression that had prompted him asking if he was alright; and then... that.
“What?”
The king was frowning, though he didn’t realise it; trying to comprehend. “When did that happen?”
What are some things you've had to deal with as king that you hope Anduin doesn't have to face?
Arranged marriage.
War with the orcs.
His spouse’s death.
Uh, not really being able to read. But I think we basically already sorted that one.
Does that not tear you up inside? To know you've essentially failed your son?
If I let it tear me up, I’d continue to fail him.
I won’t fall to despair or inaction. I must keep moving forward, no matter what.
That’s what it means to be from Stormwind.
As Stormwind’s King, and as my son’s father, I must embody the very concept.
Do you ever wonder how powerful Anduin would be if you'd started his training in the Light at a very young age?
I dunno. I don’t think powerful matters to me.
I just want him to be happy.
Power is… [sighs] power is part of that. Especially for a lad of his station. He’s gotta be able to defend his Kingdom, and defend himself.
But he can already do that, where he is now. Hell, he resurrected me once.
So starting him earlier… it wouldn’t be about power. It’d be about his development as a person.
If you could go back in the past and change one decision you made, would you do it? What would you choose?
My decision to be unsupportive of Anduin early on.
I thought I was supporting him, pushing him, into being the best he could be. But now I see I was just holding him back. If I’d allowed him to train at the Church earlier, maybe he’d be less…
[sighs]
…less unhappy.
So, how awkward is it when people make jokes about orcs in your presence, now? Surely it still happens.
It’s always been pretty damn awkward, honestly.
Now it’s less like “oh, hey, yeah, you’re just casually joking about the perpetrators of my life-changing trauma, go right ahead, that’s fine” and more like “shut the fuck up about my boyfriend”.
But there you go.
