♔ ;; ❝Life’s a tangled web. It’s impossible to unravel it.❞
Hans leaned forward in his seat, looking straight
at Elsa. She had clasped a hand over the other,
expression solemn. Hans paused, a look of
frustration marring his face.
❝You can’t pretend nothing has happened between
the two of us. Don’t think you can just throw away
all of that. You shouldn’t just give into the wants of
others.❞
His hands ghosted over Elsa’s until he grasped them
with a fierce tightness, nails digging into her palms.
He was the one to say the obvious, but only because
it needed to be spoken out loud. Hans knew he was
approaching a dangerous line that shouldn’t be crossed.
But, he was never a man that shied
away from risks. As long he gained
from it.
❝Don’t l i e. You know what you really
desire, don’t you?❞
❝— —- And what do you know of my desires?❞
She could not believe it. She could not believe that he was actually
here after all these years. She almost thought it was a dream had it
not been for her powers threatening to burst. For the first time in a
long time, she wanted to weep. If it wasn't for the fact that she had
to maintain her appearance and put on a show, she would have.
There was no point in lying ; she missed him. After their engagement
fell through, her parents forbade her from contacting the prince.
The one person she had grown to love and trust
was taken from her and she was powerless. She
was, after all, property of her father and of the
state. Crown princess she might be, but her life
belonged to the crown. As much as she wished
to contact him, to tell him of everything, she could
not.
God help her it was difficult not to weep in front of him. Seeing his face brought back what had happened to her and what her parents did. When he placed his hand upon her glove covered ones, she tensed but she did nothing to pull away. He had broken down her walls long ago.
❝You don't know... What if I want to protect myself?
There are things you don't... The past hurts Hans.
So much. There are nights that I spent dreaming
about what could — should — have been and in
truth, every time I did that, I only hurt myself more.
I don't want to forget. I never have.
But what if I do it for my sake?❞
