--
to be on the edge of destiny to watch it pass by without experiencing it the pattern I see is drawn on him it began with your eyes to limit oneself to that to make this border a kingdom

oh my god thank you for asking abt my queen, thank you for letting me talk abt my queen 🥺
first impression: Okay okay so please let me preface this with an assurance that I have seen the error of my ways, and if I ever stop stanning Queen Guinevere you have my full permission to kill me, BUT. I was a little disappointed when I first met her because I (mistakenly) assumed the series wasn’t going to give her any depth at all, just drop her in as the Cute Awkward Quirky Poor Girl to Arthur’s Confident Dashing Handsome Rich Man, but as the first season unfolded, I realized I’d misread her character completely, and I fell in love with her!! she’s still cute and awkward and quirky, but that’s not all she is, that’s not the entirety of her personality, and i was so relieved to realize that. I definitely did like her a lot in The Dragon’s Call, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t think she would ever have much personality outside of (eventually) loving Arthur and popping up when Merlin needed a friend. I’m glad I was wrong!! impression now: I love her!!! I love the way she grows and changes and develops so much over the five seasons, but the core of her character still remains largely the same. She never loses her compassion, her intelligence, her diligence, or her sense of right and wrong - all she loses is those outer layers of shyness, insecurity, and awkwardness that held her back. It’s a pleasure to watch her grow from a girl to a woman, and to see her stand strong throughout all the hardships life gives her. favorite moment: the moment where she straight-up stabs the lamia in Lamia is obviously the Big Fave, but i’m a Basic Bitch so i also like when she tells Arthur off in The Once and Future Queen!! and just the entirety of Sweet Dreams idea for a story: I’d love to see a fic about Gwen going on a quest of her own!! Arthur, Merlin, and Morgana all got at least one Daring Swashbuckling Quest Episode, and I was always really disappointed that we never got one for Gwen - the closest thing we ever got was Lancelot and Guinevere, and that just wasn’t nearly enough for me! I’d also love to see a fic showing more of her time away from Camelot in the stretch between her exile in Lancelot du Lac and her return in The Sword in the Stone unpopular opinion: why didn’t we get an official Gwen Becomes Queen Episode 🥺 favorite relationship: her dynamic with Merlin!! I would love to see more of her relationship with Elyan, too, and her childhood friendship with Leon!! favorite headcanon: After she found out about Morgana’s magic in The Eye of the Phoenix, she started researching magic on her own - she didn’t know enough about sorcery to be sure if it was the magic making Morgana do all the terrible things she did, or if it was entirely Morgana’s own choices. the more she read, the more she realized magic wasn’t the mindless evil Uther had always painted it out to be (and this would go a long way toward explaining why she wholeheartedly supports Arthur’s use of magic in The Wicked Day and why she accepts Merlin so quickly, without a single hesitation or question, in The Diamond of the Day
thank you for letting me talk abt my queen 🥺
