PSA: just want to remind people that if your muse is trans, whether or not they transition should not factor into the gender of the fc you choose to portray them. if your muse is a trans woman, their fc should be a woman; if they are a trans man, their fc should be a man. this is the case regardless of how they present.

using a male fc to portray a trans woman or a female fc to portray a trans man is always deeply inappropriate, but when you apply this to non-transitioning muses, it specifically reinforces the idea that trans people are the gender they were assigned at birth playing ‘dress-up’. it reinforces the idea that the line between assigned gender and one’s identity is drawn by aesthetics. i don’t think i need to explain how damaging that is.

if you want your muse to have a certain look, find that look / style within a pool of faces who match your muse’s gender. there are plenty of options out there. here’s a masterlist of trans fcs and friendly reminder that cis fcs are also an option, again, provided they match your muse’s gender.

MILD PSA ( bc i’ve been seeing this happen a lot lately ) but if the only set genders in your rp are cis male, cis female, and nonbinary, then you’re not creating a diverse group and a welcoming space for trans people. binary trans people exist, so if you’re going to the effort of creating male and female muses, you can jolly well make some of them trans, too. throwing a few nbs in the mix doesn’t absolve you of that. pls do better, thank u.

how do you know that person doesn't identify as a gay man now...

bc they have a history of going around changing up their details after getting stick for doing smth disgusting and then point blank lying abt it, so like,, i’m not inclined to believe anything they say r.e. all’a that – especially when it’s only been a matter of a couple months and they were very explicit in them NOT being a mlm during our convo ( where i pointed them in the direction of resources to stop them being a fetishistic dick, let’s not forget tht ). also, they’ve knowingly misgendered ppl, so it’s obvs they don’t respect trans ppl tht much; is it really a reach to suggest they’d fake that shit ?? 🤔

ALSO ,, take it from a gay dude… while internalised homophobia is a Thing and can result in doing questionable stuff ( esp. when mixed w/ internalised transphobia ),, 1) it doesn’t excuse the fact that what you’re doing is gross and dehumanising to other mlm, so u should cut tht shit out pronto !!! respect ur community !! 

and 2) yk, imma go ahead and say it: mlm dont talk the same way abt m/m ships and mlm charries as peeps who AIN’T mlm do. like we just . don’t. you can tell – or rather, I can tell – when i’m talking to another mlm or reading a post made by a fellow mlm about that kinda shit, bc it’s just inherently different and stems from a place of experience and understanding bc, u know, it’s exploring a facet of ourselves. like that’s not to say everyone else is fetishising, but it’s patently clear when they are, bc not only do you have that disconnect, but also a general lack of awareness and a manner of carelessness ( and that’s at best; at worst, it’s actively malicious ) when it comes to conveying that shit, bc to them we are an “other”. it’s not their personal experience; they inherently do not understand our experiences and are using us as tools for their own gratification.

honestly, the older i get, the more i realise that when you’re a minority -- and especially as a black person -- you’re never gonna please ppl with how you deal with things. if you’re nice, you’re a pushover; if you’re curt, you’re a bitch. you’re always too angry, too harsh -- too much of something, and it’s so fucking tiring to try and please people or cater to the feelings of those who are doing harmful things. so do you. if you want to educate in a nice way, do that, more power to ya. if you want to vent, vent away. if you want to tell people who are racist or transphobic or ableist etc. to get lost and go educate themselves, you’re well within your rights to. you owe them nothing.

regardless of how you do it and no matter how much they try to victimise themselves, you’re not the bad guy in a situation where you held someone accountable for being harmful and oppressive through their words or actions. their hurt feelings are not (and will never be) comparable to or matter more than the fact they’ve done something harmful. anyone who cares more about your approach or social niceties than someone perpetuating disgusting, discriminatory bullshit isn’t worth your time.

what happened im

someone called ally ( allyshelp was her url ), a cis white woman who decided it was her place to tell the rpc that she thinks trans fc can be used for cis characters a week or so back and then victimised herself when she got called out, decided to talk over a bunch of marginalised groups once again, this time by saying that discrimination against cis / het ppl is just as bad as the discrimination lgbt ppl face. a good chunk of the rpc was having none of it and took her to task, so now she’s buggered off -- though not without making a few faux apologies, which she’s handily deleted, likening marginalised groups to literal paedophiles, and deciding to label those who called her out as the bad guys for, amongst other things, “twisting” her words, when she was being blatantly homophobic n transphobic ( and has been racist in the past ). will she return ?? we just dont know ! but rn we’re just hoping she stays away for as long as possible.
