Thank you for asking!! Monique is quite tragic actually!
Okay so Monique had terrible parents, absolutely terrible. Who knows who her father was and what happened to him, and her mother obviously couldn’t care for her alone as a single mother, so she gave Monique to an orphanage.
If I remember right Monique ran away from the orphanage when she was thirteen, and she started working at a bar (one of her more distinguished jobs) they never actually paid her, so she stole money from tips.
A few years later, a man comes into the bar and asks Monique if she wants to work with him (if you hadn’t already guessed this is her first pimp)
Since she’s young and everything, she obviously says yes because she’ll actually get paid, and she won’t have to sleep in the bar anymore. Little does she know this guy is ripping her off, and stealing part of her cut.
So she does what any rational angry woman does, and stabs him in the back. Multiple times. She gets a new pimp (this is Claude by the way) and he gives her more than her cut because he’s absolutely terrified of her.
He gets arrested for one crime or another, and abandons her. She has to find her own clients, and that’s how she gets typhoid. I’m pretty sure you know the rest ;)
