Megaman Production Art Scan of the Day #733:
Ruby Spears Proto Man Cel
Proto unfortunately has a little buster paint chip and quite a bit of line loss, so back to an edited version today to help correct those flaws. Although one part I did not touch up was the white glare on his visor. If you look carefully in the screencap below, that flaw was actually included in the scene itself. So that part above his nose where there is a little black spot visible actually never was fully painted on the cel in the first place.
Once again, coming from Episode 13, The Strange Island of Dr. Wily. Right before yesterday's Wily scene, Proto Man and Mega Man are fighting some Stone Bots back to back together. Look at this weird-lookin' space suit-y muscle-flexin' back of Mega Man frame that would go with it XD:
"This is what it's all about, brother. Are we a team, or what?"
"Or what, Proto Man. Just take care of business."

Okay Wily, quick question.
Why haven’t you thought of just turning Thomas and Mega into helpless Axolotls and then I don’t know put them into a tank to gloat over them for the rest of their foreseeable lives. Or give them to Protoman as a pet just to watch them suffer. Throw them into a lake and watch as the human race futility tries to find their once prestigious Dr.Light and their hero Megaman in a vauge hopeless attempt to save their crumbling society.
I don’t know, seems like an easy answer... and if let’s say Roll gets in the way BOOM helpless Axolotl at the whim of your mercy.
Dr. Wily: Three reasons:
They would require constant surveillance. Never underestimate the wits of an axolotl!
Proto Man might feel sorry for them and (misguidedly) try to help them.
Do you have any idea what a human/robot to axolotl transmogrifier costs??
Though I admit, the idea of transforming Light and Mega Man into something helpless does have its merits...
I made a design of Pop in the Ruby-Spears Mega Man cartoon! I figure that in Ruby-Spears they would make her more evil I guess? I imagine her being kind of flirty with all the robot masters but loyal to Proto Man. She often pairs up with Snake Man, Elec Man or Metal Man if she can’t pair up with Proto Man. She’s a kind of stuck up and proud of her looks. She knows that she’s attractive and uses it to her advantage.
Mega Man (also known as Ruby-Spears Mega Man) is a Japanese cartoon from the 90's multi-produced by Capcom, Ruby-Spears Productions, Ashi Productions, and Ocean Productions. The TV series began on 11 September, 1994 and ended on 10 December, 1995. Two seasons were produced with a third planned but black of funding forced them to quit early instead. Reruns of this show were on first-run syndication channels* and ran until 19 May, 1996. Episodes were released on VHS by Sony Wonder in January 1995, and then the entire series was released on 2 DVD sets by ADV Films in 2003. Both of those sets are now out-of-print, and in 2009 ADV Films re-released the first half but was shut down in 2009. Discotek Media released the entire series on 30 September, 2014. *the licensing of the right to broadcast television programs and radio programs by multiple television stations and radio stations, without going through a broadcast network.
Some Magic Man for fun~ Tried something a little more realistic with his design (I like his game canon design too, but it's difficult to draw in my RS style lol)

Ruby Spears Roll Cel
Double Buster cel number 2 is my first of Roll.
This is the one that had the worst damage of the batch, sadly. A chunk of Roll's leg paint was stuck and peeled off onto both Dr. Light and Mega Man's cels by the previous owners. While the actual piece itself is ruined pretty badly, it can be pretty easily repaired digitally. So, that's just what I did, as you can see in the 2nd version. Not perfect, but it looks closer to what it should have.
This frame comes from Episode 1, The Beginning. Before the commercial break, Mega Man pushed Roll out of the way to save her, after Guts Man threw a monorail car at her. Mega ran out of power to fire his Mega Buster, and got flattened. This frame comes right after that first bumper, as Roll runs to Mega's aid to lift the wreckage off of him.
