Review: Rucy’s Vanity - Whitening Body Lotion & UV Suncream

Rucy’s Vanity is another Korean cosmetics brand that offers a more reasonable price to its consumers. They are affiliated to Derm Plus Korea Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of Rucy’s Vanity in Korea. According to their website, it targets “budget-conscious Filipino consumers, which value both affordability and quality of their skincare and cosmetic products. Market, plays an important role of a bridgehead in the Philippines and we’re expecting to make a full-fledged stay in the industry.”

For now, I’ll be making a review on their Whitening Body Lotion and UV Multi Protection Suncream.

Rucy’s Vanity Whitening Body Lotion

The Rucy’s Vanity Whitening Body Lotion claims that it:

Makes your skin whiten, soft and elastic.

Protect your skin from free radicals, contaminations and irritations.

Contains extracts of aloe vera, portulaca, moraceae, centella and green tea to calm and soothe skin.

Each tube contains 100mL for Php120 each. It has three scents namely, Acacia ( Fresh clean scent), Cactus (Mild aloe scent), and Tropical fruits (Sweet fruity Scent). From the three scents, I chose the Acacia one since it was the scent that was appealing to me compared to the other two. The Acacia scent was also the reason why I bought the lotion. This particular scent really has this “fresh clean scent” and I just love the smell of it!

Been using this for a month now, and so far it really does softens and moisturizes the skin. For the whitening part, I’ve been applying this lotion to those parts where it is usually exposed to the sun since my skin tone their is darker. So far, it has minimal effect of whitening that I can still see the difference of skintone with the skin that is usually exposed to the sun vs. to the skin which is not exposed.

So if you are just finding a body lotion that is affordable but moistens the skin, then this lotion will do.

Rucy’s Vanity Multi Protection UV Suncream

This Multi Protection UV Suncream is facial sunscreen. It claims that it is moisturizing yet non-greasy. It is also perfect as a makeup base to smooth out skin texture while priming the skin. This sunscreen has an UV Protection of SPF 50 PA++. Each tube contains 8ml that costs Php70 each. Unfortunately, this has only one size.

I’ve been using this a facial sunscreen and a moisturizer, it does moisturized but after a few hours it is a little bit greasy given that I have an oily skin though it claims to be “non-greasy.” But for the price of Php70, and has a high SPF, I think this suncream will do good for everyday use. You just need to put powder after a few hours to minimized the greasy feeling.

All in all, Rucy’s Vanity has some downs when it comes to their product. However, for the affordability, the products are good enough for everyday use.

Easy  “Rucy’s Vanity” 10-Minute Natural Make-up Look 💋

If you're like me who hits that snooze button at least 5 times before actually getting up, then you're probably also the type who thinks that any extra minute, added to your sleep, is hella precious. I've committed myself to doing a quick natural make-up routine every morning, that wouldn't take me longer than 10 minutes, because I really want to save my time, for sleeping (#BeautySleep). Here's a step-by-step tutorial of how I do my everyday makeup with Rucy's Vanity.

Rucy’s Vanity is a 100% Korean cosmetics brand offering high quality cosmetics in a more reasonable price to create a beautiful life. They have a variety of products like make-up, skincare (acne-prevention, whitening, cleansing), bodycare, and nail polish.

Now let's get on with the tutorial! ✨

STEP 1: Tie your hair or wear a head band to prevent your hair from getting onto your face while doing your make-up.

*I don't usually show my forehead, because #paliparan HAHA, but for you guys, I shall!*

STEP 2: Apply Rucy's Vanity BB Cream. Normally you'd have to do an extra step before this, and that's applying sun block to your face and neck, which would add around 3-5 minutes to your routine, depending on how fast it would get absorbed by your skin. But for this case, Rucy's Vanity's BB Cream already has sunblock, that's SPF 20 PA+++, and has an anti-wrinkle and whitening formyla! It comes in two shades, #21 Natural and #23 Oak.

Apply a dollop onto your hand. Then dot your face evenly and lightly blend the BB Cream, with your fingers or a face sponge, making sure to cover all areas of your face and neck.

STEP 3: After applying BB Cream onto your face, you can finish your base by lightly applying Rucy's Vanity Two-way Cake, which is a combo of foundation and powder. Again it has UV protection, that's SPF 35 PA++, and whitening minerals that'll keep your face matte. It comes in two shades, #21 Natural Beige and #23 Dark Beige.

STEP 4: Next pencil eyebrows with Rucy's Vanity Auto Eyebrow Pencil, to fill those gaps and make your face more defined. An easy retractable eyebrow pencil, it can create excellent, sharp and precise lines. It's very pigmented and easy to blend. It has three colors, black, brown and gray.

STEP 5: Curl eyelashes then apply Rucy's Vanity Liquid Eyeliner onto your top lid. Water-proof, with a deep black pigmentation, it can last a whole day without smudging.

Sometimes I skip this part when I'm feeling more laidback, but simply adding a winged eyeliner onto your face can make such a difference!

STEP 6: Apply Rucy's Vanity Gleamy Lavish Waterproof Mascara onto your curled eyelashes. Hypo-allergenic and sweat resistant, this water-proof mascara coats each lash making it appear naturally longer and more volumized.

STEP 7: Apply lip tint / lipstick / lip balm onto your lips, to add color to your face!

And voilà! You're done and it only took you 10 minutes (or less) to do your make-up! With Rucy’s Vanity, you're sure to have a great quality finish with your make-up.

[REVIEW] RUCY'S VANITY: Gleamy Whitening BB Cream

So today, marks a comeback post to this blog. I will be featuring an affordable yet effective Korean cosmetic brand, RUCY’S VANITY.  If you are an avid follower of my blog you might remember my first feature about this brand here.

Last April, I was lucky to win in one of their Facebook contest and had a chance to meet the people behind these awesome brand,

As a prize, I was able to take home these babies:

Aimed with the mission of providing quality yet affordable Korean cosmetics for Filipinos, Rucy’s Vanity quickly gained popularity through online selling and marketing of the products. I am an avid user of their products since 2012 and BB cream was one of the first I bought from them.

So now, I will be featuring their own version of the most beloved and raved product of all times, the hit product that can give instant flawless skin (“drum roll”, please!): BB CREAM (aka Blemish Balm, Beauty Balm).

FIRST CONFESSIONS:

A complex formula BB Cream that promises 5 SKIN SOLUTION EFFECTS: UV Protection (SPF 20 PA +++), Anti-Wrinkle, Whitening, Make-up Base and Foundation.

PRICE & AVAILABILITY:

Affordably priced at Php 200 (the cheapest BB cream I have known) which can easily bought either online (through their Facebook page here) or directly at Rucy’s Vanity office located at Unit 1706 Antel Global Corporate Center, Julia Vargas Ave. Ortigas Center, 1605 Pasig

PACKAGING:

The product comes in a glossy pink box printed with the information, ingredients and manufacturing date and place of it.

The glossy pink tube-type packaging contains 30 ml of BB cream. To obtain the BB cream, all you have to do is to unscrew the white cap and squeeze the product out of the tube. But be careful in putting to much pressure so that you won’t have any mishap. This type of packaging is very hygienic for it limits contact with your skin and the environment (that is loaded with foreign bodies: bacteria, dirt and dust). Despite the cheap price of the product the packaging was not compromised, it is simple yet feels and looks luxurious.

CONTENTS:

You can easily notice the tad light color of the cream that might not be suitable for dark skin but NO WORRIES cause this BB comes in two shades: (1) Natural (the one I used in this review) and (2) Oak (darker color). So you should really know your skin color to have a perfect fit of the shade.

Consistency: The product is easy to apply (not to thick nor “liquid-y”). All you need is to warm it up a little by blending so that you can perfectly apply it on your skin.

Finish: Matte and semi-dewy. This is really perfect for the oily-type skin. But overtime it tends to be oily especially in the afternoon so you should be always ready to have a powder or blotting paper to counteract the oil build up.

Ingredients: Unfortunately the product does have parabens (to lenghten the shelf life of the product) that migt be a possible carcinogen. But still it is loaded with active doses of Licorice extract(skin whitening, melanin inhibitor), Mulberry Bark extract (whitening and anti-aging), Arbutin (potent whitening ingredient), Adenosine (anti-wrinkle), Vitamin E (antioxidant), Green Tea Extract (antioxidant with high dose of Vit. C), Zinc Oxide (anti-bacterial, oil control), Shea Butter (moisturizer), Allantoin (hastens skin recovery), Hyaluronic Acid (moisturizer for plump skin).

Scent: I am not the fan of the scent. It smells like generic foundation. But nevertheless it is still tolerable.

Sun Protection: No worries of skin darkening coz it’s loaded with SPF 20 PA +++

Coverage: Medium coverage. Great for covering acne scars and blemishes. It also fights appearance of redness on skin.

PUT IT ON A TEST:

So to determine how much oil this BB cream contains, I conducted an Oil Test using a small sheet of paper. I just put a drop of BB cream and let it stand for an hour.

After an hour here is the result:

As you can see a few amount of oil was leeched out of the BB cream. This only proves that despite the matte finish it gives, it is still recommended to put a powder after using it to avoid being too oily at the end of the day.

The pros win over the cons! So I am giving this product 4.8/5. I am really recommending this BB to those who wants to cover up flaws and achieve flawless skinala Korean idols instantly.

Will I repurchase it?

Of course, YES! I’m really satisfied with this product and this is really a must have! You won’t regret buying for despite its affordability it still does its job well

PRODUCT REVIEW: Rucy's Vanity Pearl B.B. Cream

I just want everyone to know that this is a very honest review. This is based on my own experience with the product and I don’t mean to degrade or try to bash any product or online shop with this.

  Last week, I bought the Rucy’s Vanity Pearl BB Cream online. According to the online shop seller, the BB cream has a pearly white finish that can be best used during special occasions. The BB cream is in a plastic 8ml tube and it only costs Php105.00 (If I’m not mistaken).  With the price of the product, it simply means that I should not expect anything excellent about it.

The Product:

When I first opened the product, the first thing that bothered me was its smell. Generally, I don’t like products with pungent smell and it will absolutely give me second thoughts if the product smells bad. When I opened the product and put it in my hands, I can’t help but notice the smell it has so until now, I haven’t used the product in my face.

On the other hand, when I put the product on the back of my hand, I can say that it can be used like a shimmering powder for the neck and back area because of its glittery effect. Its sheer coverage and glittery finish gives this great effect that can be used during special occasions. The glittery effect lasts really long.

With regards to the product’s whitening and moisturizing effect, I think I cannot say anything about it since I haven’t used it on my face yet.

As a BB cream, I would rate the product 3 out of 5 but as a substitute for a shimmering powder, I would rate it 4 out of 5 just because I won’t prefer using the product for my face because of its smell and it cannot be used on a daily basis (which the owner of the shop told me before I bought the product) because of its pearly white effect. However, I think the product will work best as shimmering powder during special occasions especially for those who will be wearing backless or low cleavage gowns/dresses. I also think the price justified the product’s features. Although I’ve seen a lot of BB creams that are cheaper in terms of the size of the product, these are the usual BB creams that has matte effect and it's actually the first time I encountered a BB cream with glittery effect.
