It's an edited version of the first chapter of a book I've worked on for the past five years. This is also the first public release of the story in any form; I've kept it in the vault from every human being except for myself and my editor for the past three years. Releasing part of it like this is a big deal for me! If you like it in the least, I'd appreciate the votes! The $5000 prize would be really nice!
