Holiday lights run fun in DC! Some of my favorite running friends from my training group ran together and it was a cooooold 4.5 miles, but beautiful! And I love the National Christmas tree more than any other holiday thing.

Run - 11/25/2017
Surprisingly, I was able to keep up with these four the whole time on Saturday morning. I didn’t think I’d be able to keep up the whole time, but thankfully, I was able to catch some rest at stoplights and tourist spots! :)
Per SmashRun, this run last weekend was my longest duration run in a year and my longest run in a year. It was also my fourth fastest ten mile run, behind my 2014 CUCB race, a 2015 training run, and my 2016 Army Ten Mile race. So, thanks for pushing me, Tumblr!
Yay! Who else is in?
Jingle All the Way 5K - 12/04/2016
According to SmashRun, this was my fastest 5k in a year (I don’t think it’s including May’s Police Week 5k, which was only 3.06 mi on my watch).
I got to the race site about 7:45, not foreseeing there would be a super long line for packet pick up. Thankfully, Tumblr was already in line and let me cut in (and they also pushed the start back to 8:10)!
Mile 1 (8:00.6)) - The first half mile or so, I was preoccupied with the tightness in my right foot. Knowing it usually goes away after I run for a little bit, I pushed on.
Mile 2 (7:53.7) - I saw some kids ahead of me at the turn around at the bridge and was determined to make sure I caught up to them and passed them. I eventually did around halfway through the course.
Mile 3 (7:40.2) - A guy with bright green shoes passed me and I tried to keep him as close as I could. He gradually pulled away, but it got me going a little faster. I ran as many tangents as I could, as I started really feeling the fatigue in my breathing.
Finish (6:00 min/mi pace) - I picked it up through the finish and still had a couple of minutes to spare before the 15k’ers started.
After the 15k started, I got into the super long line to pick up my bag from bag check. Thankfully, it moved quickly. I then made my way over to the overpass on Independence where I could see the runners come up Maine. Tried to snap a few photos with my phone, but I can also be a terrible spectator and forget to have the camera ready.
Good to see you, @malloryrunsthis, @erin-irl, @cupcakeconditioning, @emilydoesscience, @busybeerunningfree, and @mrcarlosbc!
It’s that time of year! Don’t forget to enter the lottery for the 2017 Credut Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run & 5K Run!

I got a postcard in the mail with my results from the Army Ten Miler. That's a first.
I signed up for a couple of races last night!
I debated whether I should do the Columbia Turkey Chase or the Turkey Chase in Bethesda. I ended up choosing the Columbia Turkey Chase because of its smaller field size, it occurs on a weekend, and we can get Sunday brunch at Stanford Grill after.
And I signed up for the 5K for Jingle All the Way!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, it was worth a shot. Looks like it’ll be another year in the lottery!
