I ran 9k last night under very strange circumstances. Strange is not the right word...maybe difficult? The whole day I was feeling off, cause my dad had to go get a check up at night to make sure his bladder is okay (he was diagnosed with bladder cancer the year that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer...YAY!), and he has had surgery to remove the cancer twice. For a while now, it's been good. All the recent check-ups were clear, but I was still very tense all day. I planned my run for around the time that he'd be getting his check-up, so I could just do something instead of waiting around.
My right leg is fucked in all sorts of ways, especially my hip flexors. I warmed up all day, ate well, but when your period is around the corner, and you already are a bit tight and tense, it doesn't help. I started the run, and the first kilometer was so painful. I think I should have stopped there, but I kept going. During the second kilometer, my dad called with good news. I was so happy. But then I got very nauseous. I think all the stress just wanted to go somewhere. But I kept running. My hip was bothering me the whole run, so I would slow down, but I never stopped, since my body felt a bit more warmed up by this time, but that's just false hope. When I finally finished, I walked two laps around the track, did some light stretching, and then headed to get my dad some flowers and went home.
I stretched, I drank all the magnesium and water. I woke up this morning to the most debilitating pain. I've iced the muscle and done some light stretching. I won't be running this week until this thing heals, but I've found some videos showing which stretches to do in the meantime. I feel like shit today. Happy that my dad is alright, but everything else feels awful. I have a hard time sitting upright at the computer without wanting to melt into a sad puddle. UGHGHGHGH. I just feel so sad lol, and it's not even running related. Life just feels so weird right now. It's gonna be ok.
