rural Oregon
At this time of year, we’re consumed in clouds and mist. We drove north of North Plains and headed high. When we reached the top of the winding rural road, we had a beautiful view of the valley below. An hour later, the clouds cleared and Mt. Jefferson was visible in the east.
I’m not like everybody. I love this time of year in Oregon. The rain makes a magical sound on our skylights, and with the blinds pulled open, the grey light is soothing. I’ll be sick of it by March, but for now I’m happy.
For four days, this was our home sweet home on the Upper Clackamas River. We went to sleep and woke to the sound of the river, ate like kings, enjoyed being disconnected from social media for a while, and never minded smelling like a campfire.
Considering all of all of the above, what I think I enjoy the most when we camp is our amazing tent and bed. Never to skimp in this area, we sleep on a real mattress, and use nice sheets and blankets. After a day of hiking and play, nothing feels so good as to crawl into this bed.
Home again.

🔥 Fire in Rural Eastern Oregon
I think they may have been burning weeds in irrigation canals and it got out of control. The reason there's no fire between is that it's a recently harvested and plowed field. There's nothing to burn. There are many recently empty fields in the area.
The reason I think it was out of control is that an emergency vehicle passed us as we were headed home from shopping. These were taken from a moving vehicle, so the quality isn't very good.
The main crops in this area are onions and corn, also wheat, hops and sugar beets.
