((I have decided that the magic anons stack. So right now Cobalt is drunk and capable of spontaneously combusting.))
The robot itself ceased to burn fairly quickly- if the flames didn't reach the fuel core, not much else was actually flammable.
Unfortunately, zir couch was not similarly fortuitous.
As Cobalt stumbled over zir own feet in a desperate attempt to reach the fire extinguisher, ze knew that finally, finally, ze had been visited by a Magic Anon.
By the time ze reached the broom closet, there wasn't much couch left to salvage.
Cobalt put one aluminum hand over zir chest, to the left and above where a human heart would be.
"Alas, sweet couch. I barely knew you," Cobalt furrowed zir eyebrows, suspecting that there was something wrong with that sentence. But oddly, zir memory banks seemed almost... blurry.
((Cobalt was always meant to be rusting... I just can't get the hang of translating it into makeup. Here's a photoshop mock-up of the makeup I want to do for SwampCon))
Shojo beams back at the bot and follows her down the hall. "So, are you the only bot in this verse?"
Cobalt shakes zir head. "Not at all. There a few dozen of us scattered about in this 'verse, although I have only met the few of us who reside on the East Coast. If you visit me again you might meet some of my associates. My sister is usually around..." Cobalt looks back down the hallway in contemplation, as if mentioning Dot might cause her to appear. It doesn't.
Shojo blinks and stares at Cobalt with a slightly confused expression. "Umm... yes? We take breaks because relaxation is important, I guess."
Cobalt contemplated her answer. Shojo could almost see gears whirring in the depths of Cobalt's brain. "In that case," ze finally said, "Perhaps we should sit down. If you would please come with me?" Cobalt gestured down the hall with one gloved hand.
She shrugs happily. "Eh, kinda bored so I just felt like visiting. Work just keeps getting more and more draining. Luckily the semester's over for me and my friend Doesnt so that's one less thing to worry about."
Cobalt nods. "Do breaks in your schooling help you build reserves of energy, or do you need the human equivalent of a tune-up to repair your capacity to function? I know the efficiency of my energy conversion suffers if I go too long without maintenance."
"Cobalt? Hello? Did I go through the right portal?" Shojo walks in looking a bit on the lost side but there was a curious twinkle in her eye. "What verse is this anyway?"
"Ah, Miss Shojo!" The silver automaton greets zir friend with a grin. "If you've come to see me you are in the right place. I hope your journey was safe and pleasant. What brings you to my corner of the multiverse?"
