He flashes a full grin now, as he glances back at her; Maybe
he shouldn’t be so obvious at how little her remarks had bothered him.
the similarity is almost UNCANNY. joyce can see how the mixup might have happened, though she’s got a couple of decades on this girl. she tilts her head curiously, because despite how royally FUCKED UP this situation is, joyce’s mind is always working. ❝ you’re veronica, i’m guessing ? ❞

Okay so!!! I need to point out that one of the most IMPORTANT things in this relationship with my heather duke, @ruthlessblue ‘s veronica and @cornvts ‘s jd is the fact that this has a dark veronica!! this is super super important. yes this was all planned on discord and we have like 50 channels and we’re still making more and then i come on here and post smut because of who i am as a person.
so the timeline on this!!!! and this is my interpretation and might not be completely accurate. veronica is dark. she’s not the girl who wanted to make everybody at westerberg happier. she doesn’t feel guilt at going along with bullying and she doesn’t resent the heathers for turning her into a bully in her attempt to get popular. this does not mean!!! that she likes!!! the heathers!!! veronica had always had a soft spot for heather duke though, having noticed her and been attracted to her since middle school.
now heather duke is extremely closeted, she has a lot of internalized homophobia, she also could never let chandler know she’s interested in women or else she’d be ostracized. she’s forced to watch as chandler picked and chose favorites, always spending time with veronica, taking away her chance to even talk alone with veronica besides them listening to hot probz together.
here’s where the dark veronica thing really changes things. dark veronica wasn’t pushed away once she saw the kind of person jd could be. she fell in love with him, though her feelings for heather didn’t go away. so now veronica is a happy murderer.
i’m going pretty meta on jd here, and this might not be everyone’s take on this. but jd went after heather duke as an attempt to convince veronica that their work needs to be continued. he chooses duke because he knows she can be turned into the megabitch chandler was. he gives her the final push off the edge she needed to be an absolute bitch. without veronica doubting that what they were doing was right, jd doesn’t need to make a pawn of heather duke. she falls to the wayside. she’s just another heather to him, possibly someone else to kill if she ever starts to hurt veronica.
now, instead of heather duke going after heather m and yelling at veronica and ridiculing martha, veronica and heather duke get to actually spend time together post - chandler’s death. post ram and kurt’s death, there’s a sudden outpour of support for the homosexual community, a support that gives heather and veronica to confess their attraction ( i.e. veronica pulled heather aside in the middle of the street and told her she loved her and kissed her.
but veronica still loves jd. she tells jd how important it is for her to have heather duke in her life, and because jd would give veronica the actual world on a silver platter, he agrees because she wants him to. now their relationship starts, and the details after this are fuzzy because SOMEONE WANTS TO KEEP PLOTTING JD STILL TRYING TO BLOW HIMSELF UP.
anyway, now the relationship progresses and veronica has herself two devoted partners. jd and heather slowly grow more and more respect for one another, first with jd realizing that heather isn’t just a dumb bitch. then he finds out that surprise!! heather is just as flawed as everyone else and he learns about her constant struggles with self confidence and body image and wanting attention and learning how to ask for what she wants. in turn, heather learns how much jd is willing to sacrifice for the people he loves. she seems him care for her, offer her help and choose to hang out with her just to hang out with her. she sees how deeply he cares for veronica, and that makes her start to love him despite never having really been sexually attracted to men.
so now heather freaks out over being attracted to her girlfriend’s boyfriend, and this is part 1 of heather making tearful confessions that end up strengthening their relationship. so now all three of them are dating. next obstacle: while veronica doesn’t regret killing chandler, she knows how horrible what she did was. later on, tearful confession part 2, good old catholic girl duke tearfully confesses to veronica and jd that she had always wanted chandler dead and jd keeps calling her a princess, but she feels like she’s been lying about being a good person to them.
cue audible sighs of relief as the murder babes tell heather that it was actually their doing. cue literally my favorite interaction in this (i don’t feel like copying and pasting the exact quote we decided bUT )
heather: i always prayed for the death of heather chandler. you two were the ones who killed her. god answered my prayers by giving me the both of you.
and in this relationship, despite the murders and being genuinely messed up people, all three of them are constantly there for each other, always wanting to make sure that no one felt left out or alone. and there’s more to this ship but here’s this halfhearted explanation.
