Gabriel had dropped everything at work when he got the call from Quinn’s mother. He had half a mind to not answer the phone when he saw who it was. It was only the last minute feeling he had to answer that he’d found out. The worst thoughts were going through his head, what would happen to Quinn, what would happen to the baby. She was his everything, it was a nightmare to think about something happening to her. When he first got there, Hayden and his mother-in-law were watching TV next to his unconscious wife. It took a lot of coercing, but he finally got her mother to leave and watch Hayden for the night.
He stretched and let out a low groan, “Don’t be ridiculous.” He said, still half asleep. Gabe put his hand on her belly and pulled up her gown to see the bruise forming. “You are so damn lucky.” Gabriel sat up and leaned back against the wall, “I’m taking the rest of the pregnancy off of work. You don’t need to be chasing that little dare devil around the house while you’re seven months pregnant.” He took a breath, “And, don’t bother talking me out of it because it’s already done. I’ve got my assistant manager running things. Everything is taken care of.” Gabriel took a breath and pulled her in for a long kiss, “You scared the shit out of me, you know.”
