Send Yellow for some headcanons about our muses.

Abel has known Raphael for 21,981 days, and he’s been completely in love with him for 17,076 of those days. Took him long enough to figure it out, huh? 

Abel once posed for a painter in Italy but wouldn’t let Raphael in the room because he was embarrassed. Raphael came into the room to watch anyway. He told him he “was art”, and that was that. ( Day 17,072 )

He once broke his finger just so Raphael could patch it up. ( Day 11 )

After Abel died the first time, his heart never quite worked right; it wouldn’t beat like it was supposed to, like it had stayed dead while the rest of him had come back to life. The first time he heard Raphael’s laugh, it started beating again. ( Day 1 )

The only time Abel has ever gotten into a real fist fight with anyone was in Florence, when the two of them were at a market, and the man running the vegetable stand decided to accuse Raphael of stealing -- which Abel still maintains he didn’t do. Abel threw a tomato at his head, pelted him with a cabbage, then took Raphael’s hand and ran. ( Day 18,002 )

Abel plays the piano, though he hasn’t in a while; he actually wrote an entire piece for Raphael, but hasn’t been able to play it for him. He wrote it, tutted at it, and then stashed it away becuase he was too afraid to show him. ( Day 20,000 )

The first November 17th Abel spent without Cain, though he was never one to celebrate anyway, he locked himself away, only to open up for Raphael soon after. It was the first time he ever cried in front of Raphael, and the first time he fell asleep in his arms. He fell asleep listening to Raphael talk about Spain -- he never did hear the end of that story. ( Day 198 )

He hates that Raphael can’t see how good and worthy he truly is. He hates that he doesn’t see himself the way Abel sees him. He hates that there aren’t enough languages to say “i love you” in, and that there aren’t enough variations of the word to suffice. He hates that Raphael is in such close quarters with Asmodeus; and by the same merit, he hates himself for being jealous of something ridiculous. He hates that he’s not good enough for Raphael, and he hates that one day he’ll have to admit it. He hates that Raphael is so much better than him at so many things, because how can he deserve someone like that? He hates that Raphael has to be strong enough for the both of them because he’s stuck in the rut that he’s not good enough. He hates that Raphael doesn’t see what a pure and godly soul he is, and that he can’t tell him because he’s weak -- that’s what he hates the most.

Gabriel had grown tired. The constant routine of the place few called paradise had grown dull in comparison to the flashing events that had once filled humanity. Despite the pathetic nature of God’s favorite toys, Gabriel found himself missing the constant entertainment they provided, particularly in that of Los Vegas. He held a longing for the sin that clouded the air like the suffocating smog brought the promise of pleasure and adrenaline; a sin seldom seen in the pitiful nature of the humans occupying the little town just beyond the fence. In a prison built more for than just the fallen, Gabriel was forced to find another way to occupy his time. Even walking the cellblock had become little more than the dull edge of a once sharp knife. The glares, once bringing guilt and a feeling of perdition, had become something far too easy to ignore.

The muted sounds of shuffling brought his attention to the cell ahead. A low mumble of noise seemed to emit from the figure trapped behind the bent, steel bars. A sneer, well practiced from often use, pulled at his features as recognition registered in his mind. Perhaps it was the desperate need for some form of entertainment of simply the boredom he had grown accustomed to, but Gabriel found himself actually engaging the man before him. “If you want to be heard then you may want to try speaking a little louder.”
