I, for one, wouldn't be able to bare the spanish accent haha. Oh, the 2 is almost done, it seems; they have uploaded a preview. I know, right? It's such a good sub!! I wasn't expecting Lisa's voice to be like that, but I'm fond of it. Twelve's voice is different but does fit him, and it reminds me of another voice that I cannot recognize.

I know, Spanish dubs can be a pain for anyone in Latin America to listen to. I’m obviously biased but I’ve always felt Spanish dubs are very bland and there’s rarely any emotion behind the voices, plus, the slang they use is so different it’s hard to concentrate on the actual dialogue, haha. It’s a good thing we each have our own, I bet they think the same of our dubs ^^; but yeah, I think I would still give it a try if they released it (if only for my love for ZNT and nothing else).

Lisa’s fandub voice is cute and I think it fits her character well, when she was speaking her first lines I thought she sounded a lot like her Japanese Seiyuu.

And yes! My thoughts exactly about Twelve haha. When I found that video I thought it was an official dub because of Twelve’s voice, it sounds so familiar! I’m sure I’ve heard that guy before somewhere e_e

I think all in all it is great. I don’t really have any complaints about the fandub so far, and that’s saying a lot. 

There’s a preview of the second episode and it was uploaded a month ago so maybe it’s coming soon.

I hope they finish it so we can listen to Five! >//<

I don't think the underwhelming quality of dub!Twelve lies within Aaron himself, but instead the voice director and scriptwriter. I think he should have been given better voice direction and script (like the "I had to" line from the Ferris wheel scene ruins the subtlety of the original script). But still, Soma's performance was absolutely perfect and I don't think anybody could even reach par to him anyway.

You’re probably right, anon. I honestly have no idea how much real effort was put into the direction of the VAs or if they just let them feel the characters for themselves and act accordingly. It’s a shame really in Twelve’s case. I think a lot of his feelings and emotions came out in the way he spoke, which was so particular of him, especially the way the volume and tone of his voice changed. I didn’t perceived these nuances with Dismuke, it felt all so flat (And oh, the FW scene especially). 

I remember that when I was first watching the series one of the things that caught my attention about Twelve was how soft his voice turned  when he spoke to Lisa. I think Soma alone made so many scenes much more powerful and meaningful to the viewer.

Anyway, as you said, there were probably other circumstances that went into the final product and it’s not solely the VA’s fault; maybe it wasn’t only the script or direction but also the time they had to pull it together that may not have been enough.

Fun Fact about the ZnT dub: Nine's VA (Christopher Bevins) directs it, and Five's VA (Jamie Marchi) adapts the script. Aaron Dismuke, who plays Twelve, is the youngest member of the main cast. He was born in 1992, and has been in the voiceover business since he was a child.

That’s very interesting. I didn’t know Nine’s VA directed it, wow. I suppose people in the U.S. are more familiar with these names and would be more fond of certain VA’s. So far, I gotta say Five’s VA is my absolute favorite for the ZNT English Dub. She’s fantastic.
