redamancy: (n.) a love returned in full; the act of loving the one who loves you
You’ve loved before. You’ve gone through numerous honeymoon phases, through many more anniversaries than you’d think possible, gone on pointless dates and even went to your high school prom with a guy you’d thought you’d marry.
And here you are, waiting in line at the convenience store, just wanting to get your caffeine kick before having to return from your lunch break, and you’re admiring the name on the side of your coca-cola bottle. You’re single, have been for a couple years, and you’ve gotten so bored while waiting for the old lady in front of you try to get rid of all her change, that you’ve started fantasizing about whoever might have the name that’s printed on your soda. You never really liked sifting through all the cokes to try to find your name, you thought it was a hassle and sometimes you’d get paranoid somebody was watching and waiting for you to finish. So you’d always grab the first bottle and go through your day trying to remember if you had a friend with the name on the bottle. (Usually, yes, actually, and it’s really awkward to drink it in front of them.)
The old lady finally had enough change to pay for her purchase but also remembered she had coupons, so as she was fishing those out of her oversized purse, you decided to read the nutrition label on your soda.
“Is your name Jongdae?”
You looked up from the nutrition label to the man waiting in line behind you, a not-too-tall man with light brown hair and engaging eyes. He gestured to your coca-cola when you gave him a weird look. The name on your coca-cola was Jongdae.
“Oh,” you said, feeling a little embarrassed. “It’s not. I just grabbed this one.”
The man nodded, and then he smiled. “That’s funny, because my name is Jongdae.”
Your eyes widened and you felt even more embarrassed for some ungodly reason, and you guess this guy named Jongdae found that amusing because he let out a quiet laugh. He also had a coca-cola bottle, and he turned it around in his hands until the name printed on it was visible.
“You wouldn’t, by any chance,” he started, raising the bottle, “be named ____, would you?”
You stared at the bottle in his hand for a solid five seconds before your eyes rose and locked with his.
“Wow, uh, actually, yeah, my name is ____.”
Jongdae’s smile grew wider.
“It’s like this is fate or something.”
