Meet Sabih Khan: Apple’s New COO with Roots in India

Apple has named Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), succeeding longtime executive Jeff Williams. With over 30 years at Apple, Khan has been a driving force behind the company’s global supply chain and operations.

Born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh in 1966, Khan’s journey took him from India to Singapore and eventually to the United States. He holds a dual bachelor's degree in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), New York.

Khan joined Apple in 1995 after working at GE Plastics and rose through the ranks to become Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019. He played a critical role in launching Apple’s most iconic products and has been central to the company’s push for sustainable manufacturing and supply chain resilience during global challenges like COVID-19.

Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Khan as “a brilliant strategist” and one of the key architects of Apple’s supply chain, noting his efforts in expanding U.S. manufacturing and advancing innovative technologies.

Sabih Khan is set to officially take over as COO later this month, marking a new chapter in Apple’s leadership—one shaped by global experience and Indian heritage.
